We Look Forward To Meeting You!! The Hilton Family Larry Hilton started growing grapes in 1969 and making wine in 1971 with the help of his wonderful wife, Evelyn. In the early 70’s they decided to add berries and some fruit trees. There were a lot of trial and errors, but they learned real quick never to sacrifice quality for quantity. Producing 10 gallons of great wine for family and friends is worth a 1,000 times more than a 100 gallons of good wine that anybody can make. Over the years they have experimented with just about every grape and fruit known to man. Through the past 20 years they have lived in Myrtle Beach South Carolina for 6 months out of the year and the other half in Roughedge, North Carolina. They have made a lot of friends both from the south and ones from the northern states. They soon discovered that not all their new friends had much of a taste for grits and muscadine wine. They then decided to broaden their crop selection, challenged themselves and attempt to grow grapes that are not typically grown in the south due to the heat and humidity. They only have […]

John Hall is a well known name among locals in Lyons Colorado, mainly because of Hall Ranch, one of Colorado’s beautifully preserved open spaces parks in the area. John Hall came to this area in 1882 and homesteaded and planted apple orchards in the well known Apple Valley area, just as you leave Lyons on your way to Estes Park. He moved to the site where Rock ‘n River now stands in 1890. The Potato cellar Hall built behind the main buildings of the Inn still stands today and has now become the aging grotto. The current owners of this 18 acre parcel, Dick and Mary Lou Gibson, have for 9 years added their own personal touches,. The beautiful grounds provide lush gardens and ponds that will long be remembered by guests. Our picnic grounds entice you from the wine room to enjoy the beauty of Colorado at its best.

“As a young boy in Italy, I would often visit the vineyard which my great-grandfather planted a very special grape from which he produced exceptional wine. This memory inspired me to bring the same passion to producing our boutique red wines, as well as some of the finest olive oil native to this region.”

John Grochau was first introduced to wine and the winemaking landscape in his early 20’s while racing bicycles for a French team in the Loire Valley. For several years, he raced through some of France’s most revered winemaking regions including Champagne, Burgundy and the across the Loire Valley. When he returned to his hometown of Portland, Oregon, he went to work in the restaurant business and quickly discovered an even greater appreciation for wine. After more than a decade selling wine in some of Portland’s finest restaurants, including a 14-year stint at Higgins, Grochau plunged into winemaking. He spent a year in Sonoma before returning to Oregon to work at Erath Winery and then worked alongside winemaker Doug Tunnell at Brick House Vineyards for four years. His first vintage as owner and winemaker at Grochau Cellars was 2002. With Grochau’s restaurant experience, there was a natural progression as a winemaker to craft food-friendly wines that enhance a meal. Grochau strives to make wines that are balanced, textured and expressive of place. Inspired by the diversity of the Willamette Valley’s soils and microclimates, Grochau sources fruit from organic and sustainably-farmed vineyards.

At Artisanal Wine Cellars we take our inspiration from the American Arts and Crafts movement, where the vision was to produce handcrafted products based on honesty and simplicity. The American Arts and Crafts movement focused on the structure and nature of materials and the details of the design and construction. Our goal is to make wines that express the sum of the vineyard, the winegrower, and the winemaker. We work with small winegrowers in different viticultural areas of the Willamette Valley that have unique microclimates. This produces fruit which is a true expression of Oregon viticulture. As winemakers, we use modern equipment to gently process the fruit in small lots. At every step, we strive to let the best qualities of the vineyard’s fruit lead our winemaking. From the length of the cold soak to the strains of yeast used, how we press the grapes and the type of barrels used for ageing, we let the wine lead our choices. To us, wine is about something shared, the flavours of the vineyard and the touch of the winemaker, that is brought to your table to enjoy over a meal with friends and family. There is no such thing as strangers, […]

Many of her rooms are open to the public to enjoy wine tastings and light fare, surrounded by original heart pine floors and horsehair plaster walls. Vanguard is that ever-sought-after idyllic wine bar that balances good drinks with approachable, contemporary small plates. The American food has French influences, which goes nicely with the cozy, wooden tables and low lighting. The wine list speaks directly to casual drinkers; it’s broken up by color, body, and taste. – For dessert, the Champagne float, served in a coupe glass, has just enough Champagne to keep your buzz going, with a sweet scoop of vanilla ice cream thrown in for good measure.

Childhood spent on an Eastern Washington orchard taught me the rhythm of nature and the good things that come from it. Picking and eating truly ripe fresh fruit didn’t become extraordinary until I realized how rare that experience was. Harvest was hard work and a crazy good time. Cold, crisp fruit with bright flavors overflowing crates and boxes. Crushing and pressing fruit in an old clanking press, catching ice cold juice off the end of the trough and savoring the flavor that would curl around your tongue and explode through your mouth like spring, summer and fall all at once. Julie and I make wine that captures that essence of harvest. Awe inspiring fruit, handled with care, short hours from vine to the winery and a light hand combine to create a wine that shows the very best that the fruit has to offer. My experience working in Washington State and New Zealand has exposed me to different philosophies and realities of place, time and terroir. This has resulted in an integration of New World styles in one wine, Cedergreen Cellars. Food friendly, fruit forward with bright flavors and respect for the earth it comes from. I love this wine.

Anyone acquainted with me knows if there is a dog on the label, it draws my attention. In the case of Howell at the Moon Winery and Vineyards, the label and the winery name enticed my curiosity. Tysie, the winery dog plays an active role in the winemaking process including howling when the grapes are ripe and ridding the vineyards of unwanted small critters and varmints. With winery owner, Marc Cohen they achieve wines that bark right up my alley. Every wine I sampled was excellent from the soft undertones of the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, to the well-integrated 2013 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon to the sharper 2013 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon with its nice aroma of baking spices.

Welcome to Blacksnake Meadery, Carroll County’s first winery and Southwest Virginia’s only meadery. We are a family-owned-and-operated business in the beautiful southern Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. Our desire to live more closely with nature and our love of all things fermented have resulted in the establishment of our meadery. Blacksnake Meadery’s closeness with nature began with negotiations with the original reptilian inhabitants (and namesakes) of the meadery. It has since expanded to the introduction of an ever-growing population of honeybees.

The story of Relic is the story of us: Mike Hirby and Schatzi Throckmorton. We met in Napa Valley in the year 2000: Mike had just moved to Calistoga after a 2-year stint managing the wine at the ahead-of-its-time restaurant Primitivo in Colorado Springs. He had become interested in wine his senior year at Colorado College, and at Primitivo he honed his palate, becoming obsessed with making wine. Schatzi had arrived the year before, inspired by her great uncle to take a gap year between her studies in African History at Northwestern University and a graduate program at Cambridge. We were both working at Behrens & Hitchcock Winery – Mike in the cellar and Schatzi in the office. After many lunches and dinners shared as part of the generally amazing Behrens work experience, tasting many wines together, we realized that we shared a similar palate. It needs to be said: without the Behrens/ Drinkward/ Hitchcock clan, it is hard to imagine Relic existing at all.

Elk Island Winery is named for the 1300 acre island in the James River, originally part of Thomas Jefferson’s Elk Hill farm, adjacent to our farm. Our estate vineyard is planted in Norton, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, Baco Noir and Dornfelder and small plantings of many white vinifera. Our goal is to produce wines that are consistent in quality, but also reflect our sometimes whimsical attitude towards wine. We want to make a wine that is both affordable and distinctive. Reynvaan Family Vineyards is a small family owned winery started by Mike and Gale Reynvaan in May 2004 in Walla Walla, Washington. We initially purchased a 37 acre parcel of land on Cottonwood Road at the base of the Blue Mountains. Reynvaan Family Vineyards is dedicated to creating fine wines exclusively from the terroir of Walla Walla Valley. The winemaking philosophy is quite simple at Reynvaan Family Vineyards, harvest perfectly ripe clusters that reflect their distinct terroir, guide the wines through a natural upbringing and bottle them only when we feel the true characteristics of the wine have been revealed.
6309 Cottonwood Rd, Walla Walla, WA 99362, United States
What we create from the land ought to express its character. Wine, perhaps more than anything else, has the innate ability to convey a sense of place, to tell the story of the soil, the wind, the earth beneath the vines. Our wines are the story of Napa Valley.
7481 St. Helena Highway Napa, California 94558
When purchasing our vineyard in Coombsville back in 1994, we were inspired by the legendary names and world class wines that the Napa Valley had become renowned for. Back then, Coombsville was an unknown corner of Napa, but had been consistently producing beautiful wines that echoed the flavor and style of Bordeaux for decades. Slowly, patiently, this southeastern corner of the Napa Valley came into its own over the years until it made its world debut as the 16th AVA within the Napa Valley in 2011. We knew, back in those early days, that the luscious, deep berry flavors, with leather, coco, spice and earthy notes that typically characterized Coombsville wines, would resonate with wine enthusiasts and collectors. Here at Ackerman Family Vineyards, we value wines that are rooted in tradition but made in the spirit of today. In 2007, we released our first commercial vintage — our 2003 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. About it, Master of Wine Peter Marks has said, “…consider yourself fortunate if you still have this in your cellar.”

Over 25 years ago, Paul Renzaglia never would have thought that a family venture would have such a profound effect on Southern Illinois and its community. From the very first plantings in 1982, the Renzaglia family and Alto Vineyards were committed to introducing a new industry to the region. President and wine maker Paul Renzaglia even felt like he was stepping into unknown territory. “At first I was scared that this venture would not go anywhere. But now I’ve seen the tremendous growth and popularity of the industry in Illinois and I am just amazed as to what has come of it,” he said. Although an appreciation of wine is deeply rooted in the Renzaglia family, improving the lives of others was Paul’s first passion. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at SIU in Administration of Justice and moved on to work with troubled youth in the St. Louis and Chicago areas.

Chatom Vineyards is nestled in the breathtaking Esmeralda Valley of the Sierra Foothills in Calaveras County. The valley was originally planted with low field crops, fruits and nut trees. When Gay Callan, owner and native San Franciscan, purchased the property in 1980, her vision was to plant a vineyard. Her first varietals were then planted in 1981, totaling 21 acres of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. Casa Rondeña Winery was lovingly established in late 1995 as a family undertaking, with the first plantings in 1990 at the hands of vintner John Calvin and his two young sons, Ross and Clayton. The Tasting Room opened in August 1997 and a winery building, with a commemorative Tricentennial bell tower, was completed in the autumn of 2004. In 2008, a new barrel aging and storage facility, including the Founder’s Rotunda, was built in order to expand production capability of the winery and hold special events for winery members and special guests. In 2010, Mr. Calvin moved out of the home he built on the property and turned it into the 1629 Club. This is a new level of membership to the winery which includes access to the private club among many other benefits. The Tasting Room and winery is open to the public daily from 12 noon until 7 PM. No reservations are necessary. Picnics are allowed for Wine Club Members.

Located about 7 miles from the coast and on the southern end of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range, Kruse Estate Vineyards is in a unique position with our cool micro-climate, securing perfect and prized conditions for the varietals we have chosen: Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache, and Chardonnay. Our fruit is exposed to brisk foggy mornings brought in by the marine influence, which burns off to early afternoon sun warming and ripening the fruit. Following, invigorating breezes blow through “the Templeton Gap”, as the locals call it, which cools the fruit down and maintains the integrity of the varietals we have planted. Our Estate vineyard consists of 40 acres: 24 acres of Pinot Noir, 7 acres of Syrah, 5 acres of Chardonnay, and 4 acres of Grenache. These varieties were selected to fit the unique micro-climate of the vineyard’s location.

Established in 1882, Spottswoode Estate is distinguished by the pre-Prohibition Victorian home depicted on our wine label. Spottswoode was christened by Mrs. Albert Spotts in 1910 and later acquired by Mary and Jack Novak in 1972. Mary released Spottswoode’s first Cabernet Sauvignon in 1982, exactly one hundred years after the estate’s founding.

Situated on the beautiful Cumberland Plateau, 2000′ feet above sea level, the “Chestnut Hill Winery” is “The Place to Taste”. The winery has a fermentation capacity of over 23,000 gallons, making it one of the largest wineries in the state of Tennessee. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and all wines produced are bottled on the premises. During a tour you will learn about the winemaking process, different types of wine, and how they’re bottled and stored. Feel free to ask the tour guide some questions. We want your visit to be enjoyable, memorable, and educational. The best and most enjoyable way to shop for wine is to visit the winery in person. When you visit the Chestnut Hill Winery, be sure to have a taste of the wines. Why is it so important to “taste” the wine? Put simply, the more you think about the flavors, aroma, fruitiness, richness, texture and finish of wine, the more you will enjoy it.

Today Heron Hill makes seven different cool climate Rieslings — from dry, terroir-driven reserves to our ethereal icewines. Heron Hill Winery has become a coveted destination within New York for tourism, as well as casual food choices. Heron Hill Winery was chosen as one of the ten most spectacular tasting rooms in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine! In addition to the magnificent vaulted tasting hall and winery overlooking vineyards on Keuka Lake, Heron Hill also has a tasting room on the west side Canandaigua Lake. In 1972 John and Josephine Ingle first planted grapevines overlooking Canandaigua Lake, known today as Ingle Vineyard. Heron Hill’s grape grower and owner, John Ingle often says that Heron Hill has “boot prints in its vineyards, not tire tracks.” People maintain the vines at Heron Hill, not machines. This personal approach and commitment to quality is evident throughout every aspect of making, serving and selling Heron Hill’s wines. These guiding principles have remained constant through the years – from hand-maintaining the vineyards to hand-harvesting grapes to offering educational and enjoyable tastings and hosting events that combine food, wine and entertainment. Heron Hill has won many awards for its distinctive, elegant wines and continues to be at the forefront of […]

Touring & Tasting was founded in 1995 by three enterprising partners who saw the emerging potential in wine tourism in the U.S. The initial goal was to publish a premium quality magazine twice a year with rich, in-depth content that would inspire people to travel to established as well as up-and-coming wine regions. As the wine industry and the appeal of wine tourism grew, wine clubs, a wine sales program, wine festivals, digital marketing, a wine cruise division, and a new wine country tour division were added. And today, over two decades later, we are proud of our position as the leading marketing and media company in the wine tourism industry — connecting our marketing partners with the wine tourist audience.

Our wine is made by Nick Bleecher at Jericho Canyon Vineyards. Nick subscribes to a minimalist approach to winemaking, letting the unique characteristics of the vineyard show through. Since our wine is made primarily from grapes from our vineyard, we are very dependent on the weather each year. This produces a wine that truly reflects each year’s growing season.
The Corders – Ross, Sandy, Nick, and Anne bought the Athens, Ohio property and began renovations in 2012. Previously a horse farm with rolling pastures, it provided the perfect setting. The vision of opening a boutique winery began in 2005 when Ross and Sandy had the opportunity to learn the wine business hands-on from Lee and Joy Wyse, owners of Rainbow Hills Winery in Coshocton, Ohio. We embraced this experience and Lee and Joy were outstanding tutors. We worked in the vineyards, tasting room, and winery. The experience of sharing good wine and conversation with customers brought us great joy. So the vision began. The beautiful red blend wine we serve is named for Leland Wyse.

MenaRick Vineyard and Winery is a family owned vineyard and winery located on 40 acres nestled in the foothills of the Yadkin Valley. We are a unique Yadkin Valley vineyard and winery specializing in Spanish and Portuguese varietals. We currently have 8 acres of vines planted, including Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Albariño, Grenacha, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional. The MenaRick story started in 2006 with the purchase of the property in Ronda, NC—but our winemaking journeys started in California where Rick grew up and Mena in Portugal growing up around her family’s vineyards. MenaRick is built from traditions and cultural experiences we had during our travels around the world. After planting our first 3.5 acres of vines in 2008, we started planning and designing the winery and tasting room. Rick’s years of building homes and doing construction was well-utilized in the new building which houses the winery and tasting room. We invite you to come, relax and enjoy the view from our vineyard, have a glass of wine (or bottle) and bring a picnic! Also, let MenaRick Vineyard and Winery host your intimate wedding, family and corporate events. Bem Vindo! Bienvendido! Welcome!

Don and Wendy Lange founded their eponymous winery and estate vineyard in 1987 with the purchase of a thirty-acre parcel in Northern Willamette Valley’s prestigious Dundee Hills. Their move north from Santa Barbara was precipitated by a few inspiring bottles from two of Oregon’s most iconic producers: Eyrie and Erath. A call to Dick Erath (whose phone number was listed on the back label) convinced the Langes to embark on a scouting trip. Starting at the southern end of the Willamette Valley, they tasted their way up, stopping only when they reached the Dundee Hills.. The couple saw a real estate sign advertising a property suitable for farmland—the property’s elevation and aspect reminded Don of the Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. After producing their inaugural vintage in 1987 from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris purchased from neighboring vineyards, the Langes planted their estate vineyard in 1988.

A New York institution since 1947, Morrell Wine Group has expanded from a small wine store on East 49th to a flagship retail store and wine bar at One Rockefeller Center and fine wine auction division. Today, the wine bar features 100 wines by the glass, one of the largest in the city, and the company’s massive Rare Wine Vault includes some of the most difficult-to-find bottles in the world. Morrell & Company owes its origins to brothers Samuel and Joseph Morrell, who entered the American wine trade in the 1920s as salesmen for an old-fashioned Virginia winery. When Prohibition hit, the brothers remained active as vintners to New York City’s churches, synagogues and physicians. In 1947, the brothers parted ways, and Samuel opened a small wine store on East 49th Street with his wife, Charlotte. Over the next seven decades, three generations of Morrells made their careers as merchant vintners to Gotham City’s wine lovers. The Morrell name is associated with several important “firsts” in the New York wine scene. In 1994, Morrell & Company became the first to hold a fine wine auction open to the public and the first to offer wine auctions online. In 1999, Morrell […]

From its beginnings as a family winery named after its grape-growing family founders’ two sons, to today’s incarnation as a Columbia Valley AVA star with a Leavenworth landmark tasting room, Ryan Patrick will continue to make approachable wines with a serious edge. Intuitive winemaking is the art of letting the fruit speak for itself. It’s minimalist intervention combined with consistency of style. That’s the heart of the Ryan Patrick promise: artisanal winemaking where the grape is at the center. Many wineries use static recipes for their wines; instead, the winemaking team, headed by Kendall Mix, does daily fermentations with different yeast or temperatures to achieve a specific effect. Batch-tinkering approaches have resulted in varietals and blends that have justifiably become famous for how they out-perform their price point. Ryan Patrick is known for its Naked Chardonnay, Redhead Red and Rock Island Red labels, and for its Reserve wines.

Great winemaking starts in the vineyard and that is what Jesse and Chris have done. With a thorough knowledge of vineyard management from root stock and trellising to microclimates and vine nutrition, Chris and Jesse have created 3 different Estate Vineyards by way of test plots and research giving them the ability to craft wines that stand out from the crowd. Additionally their vast comprehension of winemaking techniques, allow Jesse and Chris to shape the Vivac wines into not only International Award Winners, but wines that when tasted blind are believed to be from some of the world’s most prestigious wine making regions. These brothers are a nonstop team striving for excellence vintage after vintage with hand harvesting, hand sorting, using gentle traditional basket presses, lightly filtering, the highest standard of real cork (completely TCA free) and hand bottling every single bottle. While ultimately different in what each brings to the table, sometimes one having delved into yeast strains, another falling down the rabbit hole of micro oxidation, Jesse and Chris see eye to eye on the importance of listening to each individual wine and shaping its evolution independently. The practice of pairing yeasts to specific wines, slow temperature controlled […]

Our Cabernets are complex in flavor and carry distinct attributes that vary from vintage to vintage. The terroir is largely responsible for the extraordinary quality and balance of Pacheco Ranch wines. The vineyards that climb the slopes surrounding the historic Pacheco home were revived in 1970 and have been expanded since. They are planted solely to Cabernet Sauvignon vines which are “dry-farmed.” PRW wines are uniquely hand crafted through a process that has taken over half of a century to perfect. The entire process is overseen by our family, including head winemaker, Jamie Meves. With over 30 years experience of hand crafting award winning wines, we are constantly striving to continue our heritage of excellence. Swanson Vineyards was founded in 1985 by W. Clarke and Elizabeth Swanson and is known for nationally distributing Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Alexis Cabernet Sauvignon – in addition, Swanson has long been producing limited production, tiny batch wines made from intriguing varietals. Our original wine facility was purchased in 1986, then renovated and expanded in 2000. Since then, we have been offering limited seated tastings in our Salon. The Swanson Vineyards’ Salon was modeled after a Parisian salon of the mid 1800’s, where handfuls of diverse and fascinating callers were graciously entertained with sinful libations. Inspired by old-fashioned ways of elegant living and conversation – we want each guest to feel as though they are coming to a party held in their honor.

New Hope Winery began as a mid-18th century hay barn. Throughout the 19th century the property went through a number of transitions, including a museum, antique shop, and two wineries. In 2009, the original production room was converted into our event center, bringing live music to the Winery ever since.

A well-known critic once described our wines as “swoon inducing.” While we’re not sure exactly where this quality originates -perhaps in the earth and sun of our low yield vineyards, or in the hands of our masterful blenders and winemakers -whatever it is, it gives Carter Cellars wines the ability to stir the passions and overwhelm the senses.
