Westrey Wine Company was founded in 1993 by co-winemakers Amy Wesselman and David Autrey, along with David’s father, Robert Autrey, in Oregon’s burgeoning Willamette Valley. Amy and David focus on crafting elegant Pinot Noir wines, fruit-driven Burgundian-style Chardonnay and crisp, refreshing Pinot Gris. The wines are designed to be balanced and age-worthy, always complementing and enlivening the food with which they are served. Westrey wines are crafted at our facility in McMinnville’s granary district, at 1065 NE Alpine Drive. Westrey is not your typical winery. When you visit us, you won’t be overtaken by beautiful, pastoral vistas (you’ll have to visit the vineyard to see those); you will see a down and dirty winemaking operation where beauty is sacrificed in the service of crafting the best wine possible. When you meet Amy and David, the first thing you will notice is their unpretentious but passionate commitment to crafting elegant, irresistible, distinctive wines that convey the heart of their vineyard of origin.

The beautiful and historic Shenandoah Valley of Amador County is one of the oldest non-Spanish farming communities in California. The easy gold found early during the Gold Rush soon was exhausted and the miners realized that their fortune would more likely be made in a more traditional manner – farming. Grapes were planted as early as the 1850s and the valley’s reputation for “liquid gold” has been growing since. Young’s is one of the first vineyards you come to after turning onto Shenandoah Road in Plymouth. Over the years we have become an essential stop for a growing group of enthusiastic fans of our celebrated Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah, Sangiovese, and Barbera.

Our vineyard and winery are at 2000 feet elevation near the top of Spring Mountain in the western hills of the Napa Valley. We arrived on Spring Mountain in 1975 and began planting our vineyard in 1981, though vines were first planted here at the end of the 19th century. The oldest vines are now from 1985 and our youngest were planted in 1997. Our ten-acre vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. We farm our vineyard ourselves using organic practices.

It all started when two businessmen met and bonded over their shared love for the outdoors. Realizing their responsibility to protect our planet, they decided to give 1% of their sales back to the environment—whether or not they were profitable. In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, created 1% for the Planet and started a global movement.

Owners, Wayne and Linda Gay, “retired” to Johnson County, TN, in 2002 after spending 22 years in the Italian import business. During this time, Linda and Wayne, grew to love the mountains and vineyard covered slopes of Italy. When they discovered East Tennessee, they immediately felt as if they had been transported to the Italian Alps. They purchased 35 acres overlooking Watauga Lake and began construction of “Villa Nove”, an Italian inspired farmhouse whose namesake is a small town in northern Italy where their import business began. In 2005, as Wayne likes to tell it, they decided to plant a few grapevines on the property as landscaping and it simply got out of hand!! The result is “Villa Nove Vineyards” which consists of over 4000 wine grape vines. Wayne made his first wine in 2006 and found that he enjoyed it. Wayne enrolled in viticulture and enology classes in Santa Barbara, CA, Washington State, Cornell University, Surrey Community College and other locations.

All wines made entirely from the winery’s dry-farmed estate vineyards surrounding the winery on top of Spring Mountain in the Napa Valley. Stuart Smith chose specific slopes with different exposures for specific varietals when planting the vineyards: eastern exposure for Riesling, southern and western exposures across flat stretches for the Cabernet Sauvignon and the coolest north-facing slopes for the Chardonnay. There are numerous historical sights on the ranch, as well as the huge array of natural beauty and wildlife.

Our story starts early in 2001 with a group of friends relaxing after work one day. The conversation rambled from topic to topic until it landed upon an idea . . . “wouldn’t it be great if we could plant some grapes and try making our own wine?” One thing led to another, and before they knew it, these friends were digging holes and planting vinifera on what is now Working Dog’s vineyard. Our Vineyard The vineyard is located in the rolling terrain of eastern Mercer County in Central New Jersey. We started with 3 acres of Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. The more we planted, and the more wine we made, the more we came to realize that our terroir . . . that combination of soil, climate, topography . . . is capable of producing outstanding fruit. Our Wines Our idea about making our own wines has taken on a life of its own, quickly changing from hobby to passion to obsession. Oh yeah, and somewhere along the line, it became a business. Our award-winning wines are made with great care here right on the property. It is our hope that our passion for the art of wine-making is […]

Nassau Valley Vineyards is the first and only award winning winery in the state of Delaware. Founded in 1987, our vineyards were the first commercial wine vineyards to exist in the “First” state. Peg Raley and her father, Bob Raley founded the vineyards on a family farm site just outside of historic Lewes, Delaware. Peg got her start in the wine business working for Les Amis du Vin International and The Friends of Wine magazine. After several years of globe trotting for the publication, she decided it was time to stop writing about other people’s wines and start making wines in Delaware. Delaware’s laws prohibited farm wineries, so Peg drafted legislation and lobbied the Delaware General Assembly to create Farm Winery legislation for the state. The law passed in 1991. The Raley’s opened Nassau Valley Vineyards in October of 1993.

This 2018 vintage is warm on the nose with scents of buttered popcorn and grilled pineapple. The Bianchi Winery is the culmination of three generations’ dreams of creating wine in Central California. The long history began with Joseph Bianchi’s first foray into California winemaking in 1974 with an investment in a winery and vineyard on the banks of the San Joaquin River in the Central Valley of California. There the Bianchi Wine quickly grew to become an industry leader, producing award-winning wines using the most advanced farming and production technologies. His son, Glenn Bianchi, worked to continue building upon that legacy with his own lifelong ambition of producing ultra-premium wines, searching throughout California to find the finest terroir to meet his high expectations and requirements, settling on 40 acres in beautiful Paso Robles in 2000.

The Fenn Valley estate is a 240 acre farm located five miles from Lake Michigan just south of Holland, Michigan. The site was chosen after reviewing weather, climate, and soil survey maps. Unlike farmers who already own farm land and then begin to grow grapes, the Welsch family migrated from the Chicago area and were therefore free to select the most desirable site for viticulture based on the available data.

The Glunz family story started in 1871 when Louis Glunz, age 17, left his country of Germany in pursuit of the American dream. Louis arrived in Ellis Island that year with friends Oscar Meyer and Theo Koshswersmill. The three moved from city to city in search of work until they arrived in the boomtown of Chicago in 1872. The American Dream was realized in 1888, with a business loan from Charles Wacker, when Louis Glunz was able to set up a shop as a wine, beer and spirit merchant on Wells Street and Division Street.

There has been a long tradition of growing things on the Three Oak Winery property. Built on the site of a former nursery, our vineyard continues to work with nature and the land to produce the best wines possible. Beginning in 2011, Albert Lea natives Jay Enderson and Dan Sorensen envisioned a winery on the outskirts of Albert Lea, Minnesota. They came upon the nursery property and saw the potential for a vineyard. The first grapevines were planted in the summer of 2011, beginning with the varietals Frontenac Gris and Marquette. A former garage and storage area was converted into the production room, and the rest is history! A few years later, the West Vineyard was planted, and the tasting room was completed in spring of 2017.

Our owner Karen “Mim” describes their vineyard as “sitting at the bottom of a teacup” with a 360 degree view of the foothills. She says “it’s a phenomenon, a big growing garden”. Ingleside Vineyards is one of the oldest and largest wineries in Virginia. Located in the Northern Neck of Virginia, Ingleside is surrounded by rich American history. Nearby are the birthplaces of George Washington, James Monroe and Robert E. Lee. This historic estate has been owned by the Flemer family for over one hundred years. Charles H. Flemer purchased Ingleside in 1890, and today one of his great-great grandsons is proprietor of Ingleside Vineyards, Doug Flemer. The winery is housed in the plantation’s former dairy barns. The first commercial wines were produced in 1980 and were made from hand-harvested grapes grown in the vineyards. Ingleside wines are produced in the same way they are produced today and have consistently earned top honors in state, national, and international wine competitions. Virginia’s Northern Neck is a peninsula formed by the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers. They are tributaries of the majestic Chesapeake Bay. The Bay is a major factor in creating a stable climate fundamental to grow top-quality vines. The vineyards cover about 50 acres of gently rolling and well-drained countryside. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely tour and tasting, as well as a visit to the Ingleside museum, which showcases local and natural history. […]

Artists create “Depth” in their work by utilizing light and dark regions in an image to allow the piece to truly captivate its audience in an interesting and unique way. The co-fermentation of these two Bordeaux varietals yields contrasting flavors of soft baked plum, and vibrant, spicy earthiness of radish and root vegetables. The rich and velvet-like palate feel of the Merlot blends beautifully between the rugged and organic feel of the Cabernet Franc. This blend reveals its unique power mid palate, and gently winds down into a delicate and mellow finish.

Badger Mountain Vineyard, founded by Bill Powers in 1982, is the first wine grape vineyard to be USDA Certified Organic in Washington State. We earned certification in 1990, three years after Bill committed himself to organic viticulture and wine production. His vision began with our responsibility to the environment and extends to producing a completely natural product under our Badger Mountain Vineyard label. Now, almost 30 years later, we use only organically approved and natural occurring substances for all vineyard applications. This means that like the growers of centuries past, we use no synthetic treatments of any kind. We rely on our years of experience, and on techniques that we have developed to keep our vineyard site in balance. Eudoro Lucatero, our Vineyard Manager for nearly 25 years, advocates for these practices and describes the benefits in a word, “Health! Without using pesticides and herbicides, air quality is better, the fruit and vines are healthier, and both the workers and the wine drinkers are healthier!” With that in mind, we make sure each bottle includes an ingredients list along with Gluten-free and Vegan declarations, so that customers can be assured and informed about the products they choose. As THE […]

Carica Wines’ original winemaker and founding owner is Charlie Dollbaum. As a “hands on” winemaker, Charlie monitors the grapes all summer, checking ripeness and sugar content obsessively as harvest time nears. He is in the field before sunrise when crews hand-harvest the grape clusters. Then he performs every step of the winemaking process, from crush through fermentation, choosing the kinds of barrels for each varietal, and designing the specific aging program for each wine.

In 1921 Giuseppe Piccione – a native of Sicily – left his small town of Marsala, home of the world-famous sweet and dry wines, and boarded the steamship “Italia” bound for America. After arriving in New York he passed through Ellis Island and settled in Brooklyn where he found employment in a garment factory. Soon after, he married Vita Valenti and started a new life in America. Life was difficult, but they never forgot their Sicilian roots, the value of hard work, and the importance of family. Dr. William Piccione, grandson of Giuseppe and Vita, was raised with these values and went on to become a Harvard-trained Cardiovascular Thoracic surgeon – actively practicing medicine for more than 20 years. Despite a demanding career, Bill has always had fond memories of his grandfather’s winemaking efforts and as a child remembers Giuseppe’s homemade winery with a handpress, small oak barrels and a manual bottling machine. This deep respect for Italian tradition and a passion for wine led Bill to obtain Italian citizenship for himself and his children and to further study wine, earning sommelier certification. In 2010, Piccione Vineyards was founded by Bill and his two sons, Billy and Steven, in the picturesque […]

We pride ourselves in small batch production featuring classic, European-style wines made from locally grown grapes. What does small batch mean and why is it important? Our total annual production is less than other wineries’ production of one variety. It’s like cooking dinner for 5 people versus 500. Our limited production allows us to pay close attention to quality and flavor. Our level of detail and care can be tasted in each bottle. Hickory Creek Winery has a humble, yet storied past in the Southwest Michigan winery community. Founded by a partnership of grape farmers in 2006, it started simply as an outlet for wines produced from the estate. The founders built a livery barn to house winemaking operations and a small winemaker’s quarters. Soon, Hickory Creek had a local following and reputation for producing classic European-style wines with vitis vinifera fruit.

The cellar ecosystem is an important contributor to our winemaking. We let fermentations proceed naturally and slowly. We incorporate traditional techniques, like native yeast fermentations in reds, skin contact on whites, and full natural malolactic to promote the most complex expression of our varieties. This means minimal racking, extended lees contact, complete and spontaneous malolactic fermentation, no fining, and minimal filtration. This gentle treatment creates wines that are both approachable when young, and legendary for their ability to further unfold with age in the cellar – often for decades.

Klickitat Canyon & Columbia Gorge Winery is a small, family-run winery that creates natural wines in the old world tradition. Our wines are processed entirely by hand to reflect the true character of the Columbia Gorge Appellation. The joy of winemaking is rooted deeply into the culture of Europe and includes both the art of growing the grapes and the art of making the wine. Our experiences in Europe emphasized the intricate relationship of wine to its rooted origins in the soil and this notion guides the philosophy of our winery today: Wine should not be created and manipulated in a chemistry lab, as is being promoted by the growing US wine industry. Instead, wine is a beautifully crafted representation of the grapes and the location on which they grew.

We (Steve and Luci) are partners in life and business. We met in 2005 and spent most of our time in the San Francisco Bay Area. When we met, one of our shared interests was hot-climate, full-bodied, distinctive red wines. During the 2006 harvest, we helped a Lodi, California grape grower and winemaker crush and press his estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and other varietals. It was our first time on the front lines of winemaking, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Each subsequent year, we got more involved in the winemaking process. Eventually, we picked, crushed, pressed, punched, tested, topped, analyzed, oaked, racked, blended, filtered, bottled, corked, capped, labelled, packed, shipped, poured, inventoried, marketed and tasted lots of wines. We’ve visited countless wineries and tasting rooms throughout California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Texas; maintained an extensive wine cellar; developed sophisticated palates; belonged to 30+ wine clubs; attended countless wine club events, public wine festivals and private events; hosted many wine tasting evaluations for the Wine Tasting Institute; worked in vineyards, tasting rooms, barrel rooms, laboratories, crash pads and warehouses; and learned what we like and don’t like about wines and tasting rooms. We made wine under our Saxton-Serrato (our last […]

Having a humanities degree and no interest in toiling in chemistry classes, I decided to pursue apprenticeships in winemaking. In 2001, I moved to California and started my first harvest. I worked for Copain Wines and its nascent custom crush winery. The winemaking bug firmly implanted, I flew to Australia and worked for Torbreck Vintners in the Barossa Valley. I followed that harvest stint with a year-long internship at Domaine Pierre Gaillard in Côte Rôtie.

The Aglianico grape, (pronounced “A-ya-nico”), originated from the word Hellenic, Ellenico in Italian, means, “from Greece.” Around the 1500ad its name transformed to Aglianico. In Italy, Aglianico is considered the Barolo of the south. Our Aglianico grapes were first planted in early 2007. Approximately, 2000 vines were planted both on the east and west sides of the vineyard. Followed, was the Nebbiolo, planted only on the east side. In 2008 and 2011 we added the Aleatico grapes. We produce two kinds of wines from this grape: a dry wine and sweet dessert wine, both with incredible aromas. We produce a small amount of the dessert wine by using the ancient method, using sun-dried Aleatico grapes with 40% brix.

Forty-four years ago, Lupe Maldonado moved to California from Atacheo, a small farming community in Michoacan, Mexico. Lupe spent many years working in vineyards throughout Napa Valley. He settled down in the small town of St Helena. In 1971 Lupe was working for Sterling Vineyards when Peter Newton offered Lupe the opportunity to join him in the creation of a new winery in the Spring Mountain District of St. Helena. Lupe’s dedication and hard work were beginning to pay off; he was named vineyard manager for Newton Vineyard. With Newton, Lupe found a home where he proudly dedicated all his energy for over thirty years. In 1999 his son Hugo, stepped into the role of Vineyard manager when Lupe planned to retire . Lupe began devoting his three decades of viticulture wisdom to his own grapes. He bought a 10-acre piece of land in the coolest southern reaches of Napa Valley, in Jamieson Canyon, which he developed into his own vineyards. Lupe lives in the midst of the vines that he planted and tends. Lupe and his son Hugo, a graduate in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California in Davis, and their families are partners in the project. […]

This is a wine I’ve been waiting on for a while. I first tasted this wine as a recently bottled sample in 2018 at the Arizona Vigneron’s Alliance Symposium, and I fell in love instantly with gripping, leathery tannins intermingled with dark fruit and spice. Tasting the 2015 Estate Sagrantino that day… it was kind of like being in love with an intimidating Goth woman who loved me back, and the fact is, I’ve been waiting for this wine to release ever since. The rest of the table where I was sitting found it too tannic, and so I ended up drunk off of this wine at 10:30 in the morning because they all passed their pours to me, and I was happy. Sagrantino, I discovered, was like the woman I’ve always dreamed about marrying, except, in this case, she actually existed and I was enjoying her company.

We would like to invite you to experience our home in Napa Valley. We have lived at O’Brien Estate for the last 20 years, moving our family here with a passion for wine and an appreciation for the Napa Valley lifestyle. Our home sits next to our winery, nestled within the 33 acres of estate vineyards that exclusively supply the grapes we use in our wines. We knew this site had potential for exceptional white wines with its heritage going back to the historic 1976 “Judgement of Paris” Tasting, when an adjacent vineyard supplied grapes used in the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, which won first place in the tasting for white wines. But it was unclear what O’Brien Estate was capable of producing with red wines.

Rosario Bruno has been making wine with his friends for 35-40 years. It all started when a couple of friends from Italy were making wine in the cellar of their home in Chicago and invited Rosario to help them make a batch. They taught him how to combine old world Italian techniques with new ideas. From the moment he tasted his first sip of the fruit of his own labor, he was hooked…he had found his PASSION.

The area surrounding Maryhill Winery is steeped in rich history – from the Great Missoula floods which created a terroir perfect for growing grapes through its deep, relatively low nutrient and well drained deposits to the entrepreneurial spirit of millionaire attorney and road pioneer, Sam Hill who sought to create an independent farming community named after his wife, Mary, and in turn, built what is now the home to a world-class cultural institution known as the Maryhill Museum of Art. Nearly a century after Sam Hill founded the Maryhill community, in 1999 Craig and Vicki channeled the same entrepreneurial spirit and set out to fulfill their dream of producing premier Washington wines. With their vision became Maryhill Winery, a true destination winery.

It was a great run of 15 years. We are proud of the wonderful wines and olive oil that we made over that time. We are very thankful for the friends we have made because of Calamity Hill. We now have moved to McMinnville where we hope to remain active in the wine industry (in its most important sector, as consumers). We wish the new owners well and hope they get as much joy from the place, the neighbours, and the industry as we did.

Southard Winery is a small, family owned and operated winery located a few miles north of Selah, Washington. We produce Riesling from our estate vineyard as well as wines made from Rhone cultivars grown on the Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley, and Wahluke Slope AVAs. It’s a small jaunt from downtown Yakima to Southard Winery but definitely worth the outing. Southard Winery is a small family owned and operated winery tucked in the vineyard north of Selah Washington. In 2012 the wines caught the attention of Wine Enthusiast’s wine writer Paul Gregutt who anointed Southard as his “winery of the year” for its amazing wines. Enjoy the Riesling from the estate vineyard and the zinfandel, syrah, and a sassy red blend made with grenache and syrah. Noteworthy for their elegance, finesse, balance and depth, they have gone from strength to strength. This small winery flies under the radar. A short drive to this quaint family run operation is worth the time.

A love for wine has been in my family long before I was born. My ancestors viewed wine as simply an essential part of daily life. Sanitella, my great grandmother, knew each family in her small italian neighborhood by their homemade wine. For her, a person’s very character was built on the quality of their craft. Now, with caprio cellars, I hope to honor the tradition my family has had with wine for over a century. I hope that you will become a part of the caprio family and enjoy what for me is so elemental to the joy of life. Welcome to caprio cellars. Generation after generation we’re drawn to tuning in our senses to the elements. Earth, water, minerals, and sun combine effortlessly. It keeps us connected to the craft and to each other. The sharing and appreciation of wine brings together fellowship, the senses, and discernment. Refining one’s appreciation of wine over time in a social setting is a unique, wonderful experience we’ve been drawn to over three generations like bees to honey.

Wind Rose Cellars is a boutique winery located on the Olympic Peninsula. We began making wine professionally with the 2009 Harvest. We produce small lots of hand-crafted from Yakima Valley, Naches Heights, Wahluke Slope and Red Mountain vineyards. Wind Rose Cellars aspires to be Pacific Northwest’s premier winery for producing Italian style wines. For white wines, we produce Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño , Orange Muscat, and a dry rosé we called Rosato. For red wines, we produce Barbera, Primitivo, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Cab Sauv, Malbec, Tempranillo, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carménère. Many of these varieties are very difficult to find in Washington. The Primitivo, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo are very rare, with around 10 acres total. From the varieties we make, many are around 80 cases per lot, with a total production of around 1000 cases. We produce a very small lot of single barrel wines called “Barrel Select.” Food has always been a passion for us and we regard wine as the penultimate food. Over the past few years, we’ve made trips to Italy–particularly Piedmont, Umbria, Verona and Sicily–to try the wines, taste the food and experience the rustic Old Country. We try and convey […]

Cabernet Sauvignon is made by a small group of Napa Valley artisans whose careers were built producing top-rated wines for prestigious vintners. We got used to sipping from the golden chalice, all in a day’s work – reserve blending trials, “aging checks” of library vintages, and of course comparative tastings of Napa Valley’s best. To monitor quality in more real life settings – like our back decks – we raided the occasional bottle from the QC lab. Or better yet, from the “secret” Public Relations stash. Then, we traded our booty with friends at other wineries. Yet, we could not afford to buy the wines we created!

Hidden away in the country is a very small, inviting winery, Galloping Goose Vineyards. Turning onto the gravel lane and passing through the old double gates, time just seems to slow down. Taking a deep breath, the damp woods in spring delights the senses, invoking childhood memories and settling the nerves. The lane is lined with old pines, and hay fields on each side. When the gravel lane twists hard left the vineyards appear gracing the hillside. Nestled there, in folds of the hills, are the old red barns and winery. Galloping Goose offers a country comfort and a welcome feeling. Enjoy an unhurried pace, the place to stop, lift a glass of good wine, reflect, and refresh the spirit. Linger a while and remember the laughter, the romance, or maybe an indiscretion, the long ago smiles and the whispers of secrets shared. Friends, lovers and family reunite and drink in the sensation of times forgotten. Step back from the high speed world of today and just breathe.

Arrington Vineyards opened its door July 1, 2007. From the beginning we have been striving to provide a “wine country experience” with award-winning wines set in the rolling hills of middle Tennessee owned by country music legend Kix Brooks, master vintner Kip Summers, and Nashville businessman John Russell. Our vineyards were originally established in 2003 when Kip Summers and a fellow wine enthusiast purchased a 25 acre hog farm. In 2004, Kix Brooks purchased the farm adjacent to the original vineyards which included the farmhouse that would be repurposed for our tasting room and first retail space.

Part of what attracted us to wine is the fact that every wine is so unique. Each bottle, in fact, has a unique story beginning in the vineyard and ending in the glass of the ones enjoying it. In between, the wine is influenced by a myriad of factors, from the soil and weather, to the people, equipment and methods used to transform the grapes into wine. There are literally hundreds of decisions made along the way and each decision contributes to the end product. We appreciate the fact that no two wines are ever quite the same. That’s what makes wine so fascinating. It also helps guide our approach to wine making. We believe every vintage, every variety calls for winemaking that brings out the unique flavor and characters of those particular grapes. So, while we are influenced by our first wine-love, the wines of Bordeaux, we like to think our approach is Bordeaux-inspired rather than Bordeaux style.

In our 30 acre vineyard we grow 6 distinct varietals: Dolcetto, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah. We produce these single varietals in house and enjoy crafting new style blends that incorporate either estate varietals or high quality fruit from around the region. Innovation and creativity is our focus. We release limited specialty bottles at least once every year. Last year we released the 2017 Other Sister Red Blend and the 2018 Dolce Rosato.. This year, we released the 2018 Grace Red Blend and the 2019 Fumé Blanc.
