Greetings from Maury Island Winery. We hope you are all safe, healthy and virus-free. As has been said before, we are living in strange and uncertain times. And we regret very much to tell you that due to our advanced age, our small indoor tasting room and lack of a public restroom, we are not scheduling appointments for wine tastings at this time. For those new to Maury Island Winery, we are a small, family owned and operated vineyard and winery within the Puget Sound American Viticultural Area (AVA) dedicated to producing high quality estate-grown wines. We grow several clones of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, producing about 150 cases per year of Pinot Noir and a traditional method sparkling rosé we call Crémant de Maury. Although the winery, vineyard and tasting room are currently closed, our 2018 Crémant de Maury, our 2018 Estate Pinot Noir and our 2017 Estate Pinot Noir are now available for curbside pickup. See our Visit page for no-touch ordering and pickup instructions. Also, we are now able to ship wine to customers in the State of Washington and hopefully soon to nearly all states! See the Our Wines page for details. Meanwhile, stay healthy!

At Hector Wine Company, our portfolio emulates a deep commitment to making wines that reflect our centuries old farm, Sawmill Creek Vineyards. Because of this commitment, we handcraft each wine. This means that we handpick in the vineyard and employ a second hand sort at the winery every time. We allow for long fermentations, often spontaneous, and don’t rush the wines into bottle. Our small production wines are carefully curated to express balance and terroir. In early 2012, Alexandra Bond joined the winemaking team and has since become a partner in the winery with Justin and Jason as they continue to push the boundaries of winemaking and Hector hospitality. Basically, we are a group of friends who are passionate about making inspired wine, working hard, and finding beauty in every experience. Together we make wines that represent the centuries old Sawmill Creek Vineyards, a legendary Finger Lakes farm that has seen generations of family make wine and farm alongside their loved ones.

This unique blend of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc exhibits a deeply saturated ruby red color with notes of earthy pencil shavings and sassafras that spring from the glass. The texture is chewy and the mouthfeel is lush and loaded with sweet cherry, blackberry brambles and cocoa. Focused and vibrant and deeply engaging with a long finish of mocha and notes of dried roses. This is the right one – be sure to let it in!

Koenig Distillery combines Old Word traditions with some of the Northwest’s finest ingredients to produce classic eau-de-vie fruit brandies, super-premium vodka and award-winning whiskey. For proprietor Andrew Koenig, the idea to establish a distillery in Southwest Idaho has roots in Europe, where he lived for three years in his father’s hometown of Lustenau, Austria. There, pears and apples and plums were transformed into clear, distinctive spirits. Later, Andrew returned to the Austrian Alps where he was an apprentice at a 400 year old facility where the centuries old tradition of distilling locally grown fruit was perfected.

The Wisconsin Ledge American Viticultural Area was designated in 2012. It lies along the Niagara Escarpment carved out by glaciers. The topography, Lake Michigan winds, soil makeup, and natural aquafir make this area perfect for grape growing.

The vineyard is located in an area with soils and climate perfect for growing premium wine grapes. Soils rich in limestone and shale balanced with loams and clay provide good drainage and proper nutrients for growing grape vines. The ranch is located on hills that slope gently from the north to the south, giving the vines the perfect exposure to the summer sun as it rises and sets in the El Pomar district. Light afternoon winds blow through the vines providing good airflow through the canopy for proper ripening. As the sun sets, the onshore winds flow from the Pacific Ocean cooling the vineyard to night temperatures in the 50°s. The 40°-50° daily temperature swings allow the fruit to cool at night, lengthening the ripening process to intensify the flavor and allowing the seeds to mature, providing proper tannin and flavors. All of these influences from Mother Nature help create the perfect balance of Still Waters Vineyards estate wines.

Great wine, inspirational wine, is about time, place, and story. It is a document of the weather, the land, and the people who made the wine. We expect the wine to tell you something about us, and the passion behind the wine. But the truth is that if the wine doesn’t have the ability to tell you something about yourself, then we’ve failed. For us the wine is more than a companion with dinner; it’s an artistic expression.

It all started one day in 2001 when Lance, Valerie, Jack and Karen decided to try their hand at winemaking. Their friends joined in and they processed 500 lbs of grapes for their ‘unofficial’ first crush under a canopy of Black Walnut trees at the home of Lance and Valerie. This very quickly became an annual event. Several years later, they began to talk about opening a winery.

The vision for Buty Winery was originally sketched out on a napkin by Nina Buty and Caleb Foster while on a backpacking trip in the Cascade Mountains in 1998. Focusing on a belief in the artistry of the blend, this original blueprint included a short list of wines that Buty would make, most notably a pioneering Washington blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, and an equally inspired Sémillon-based blend that would include both Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. The napkin also listed a dream portfolio of vineyard partners—renowned grand-cru-caliber sites like Champoux and Conner Lee. After two years of planning that included a trip to New Zealand to learn more about making great Sauvignon Blanc, Buty became a reality. Its debut 2000 vintage featured five wines. Building on the early acclaim of these offerings, in 2001, the winery added Rediviva of the Stones and Columbia Rediviva to the Buty portfolio. These premium blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah were the first of their kind in Washington State, and continue to set the standard for this blend among the great wineries of the Northwest. That same year offered several other highlights, from the opening of Buty’s tasting room in Walla Walla to […]

My philosophy was molded by a wise cellar master during my first crush. It must have been 30 days into 12 hour days of dragging hoses around, when the cellar master looked at me and said in his Bulgarian accent: “Eric, smile! You’re making wine!” And that has stuck with me and my philosophy of wine making. Although we take making the wine seriously, we laugh at ourselves and have fun making it
Here at Millner Heritage Vineyard & Winery, we grow nine acres of grapes (about 5,000 vines.) We grow eight different varieties bred by either Elmer Swenson or the University of Minnesota. Frontenac, Frontenac Gris, Marquette, Brianna, Prairie Star, Valiant, Kay Gray and Sabrevois. The vineyard is really where the wine is made. It has been said so many times, “you cannot make good wine from bad grapes.” This is a simple truth of wine making. So, it is here where the hard work has to be put in all summer long and weather willing, with a good harvest in the fall, the wine maker can make great wine. Good wine starts with good grapes.

As long as my cousins and I insisted on playing hide-and-seek among the precious Grand Crû Bordeaux and Première Crû Burgundy in my grandfather’s extensive wine cellar near Brussels in Belgium, my grandfather made sure that we appreciated the quality of the wines housed in our playground. He often opened bottles for our education. We tasted the wines and we talked about them. My enthusiasm for wine was very obviously rooted in my grandparents’ home where wine was simply considered a beverage to be enjoyed with a meal.

After spending 20 years in the high tech marketing world, Lisa was ready to move in a new direction. As a lifelong gourmet who developed a taste for Oregon’s earthy Pinots in her college days, she had a great interest in wine. With prodding from a friend, she took a few classes at Lake Washington Tech. One class led to another and more classes led to an internship at Patterson Cellars. One harvest and she was hooked.Lisa completed the Wine Technology Program at Lake Washington Technical College and then a two-year certification program in Enology from Washington State University. She spent two years with Patterson Cellars learning the business and making a bit of her own wine in collaboration with John Patterson. She spent a harvest at Chateau Ste. Michelle learning how to make white wines on a large scale. Yearning to get back to the fruit and the hands-on experience, she decided to make a go of it on her own and Warr-King Wines was launched. In Lisa’s spare time she enjoys entertaining, traveling and drinking wine with friends and family.

Steve brings to the winery a unique history of skills and experience. A fortuitous ½ credit wine appreciation class in a college led to Steve’s destiny in the wine industry. After graduation Steve headed straight to the Napa Valley where he spent twelve years as the vineyard manager for Freemark Abbey Winery and then over to the Sonoma County side where he managed all of Knight’s Valley’s vineyards for Beringer for another 19 years. In the meantime, Steve spent his free time making wine at home on the weekends. He recognized the importance that the quality of the grapes made the wine.

William Grassie Wine Estates is an intimate Washington State winery committed to producing premier Bordeaux style wines. The winemaker, Bill Grassie, embarked upon his vision to create world-class wine in 2006, when he moved to the Seattle area. Bill is an avid gardener and his passion for gardening led him to plant a vineyard on a bare patch of ground at his new property. This seemingly inconsequential decision to create the vineyard accelerated his efforts to become a winemaker, leading to the creation of his first vintage in 2011.

Back in 1852, David Hazlitt bought 153 acres of fruit trees and vineyards here in Hector, NY. Over the next six generations, various Hazlitts farmed the land, raised families and made wine. OK, we don’t know for sure that they all made wine, but given the great grapes that grow here and the current generation’s track record for producing amazing wine, we’ve got a feeling they did. We do know for sure that in 1985, Jerry and Elaine Hazlitt founded Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards. Today, our family keeps the tradition going. Our grapes make award-winning wines. Our wines make us new friends. And we love making both. Did it start with dinner with friends at one of those chic little restaurants in the Finger Lakes, with us at the horseshoe bar in our tasting room or with a special someone on a first-date picnic? Maybe it was our Cabernet Franc that made you a Hazlitt fan. Or a Riesling or a Sauvignon Blanc. Was it love at first sip with our legendary Ice Wine or did our Red Cat bring on a different sort of romantic mood? Everybody’s got a Hazlitt story—and if you don’t, click here to get started.

Chalone Vineyard is one of the few wineries in the U.S. growing grapes in limestone-based soils, the same as in Burgundy. Graff made his first vintage under the Chalone Vineyard label in 1966, producing what became a benchmark for California Chardonnay.

The first step in production begins in the vineyard. Our 50 acre vineyard was planted in 1979 and is located 12 miles north of Defuniak Springs. The grapes are of Muscadine varieties. Muscadine grapes are native and are found growing wild in most areas of the southeastern states. Our varieties are Carlos and Noble, improved generations selected and propagated from native grapes. Again, our vineyard is not located on site. However, we have a preview of our vineyard on our front lawn. This preview consists of about 10 rows of the actual Carlos and Noble grape. Our customers enjoy picking these grapes during the harvest season. This gives everyone a hands-on feel of the actual grapes used to make our wines. These grapes are sweet straight from the vine.

Established in 2011 by Buzz and Karen Buckingham, created Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone varietal wines in their barn on the grounds of the family’s pastoral home in Sammamish, Washington. Our wine journey began in 2001 when our children went to college in Walla Walla, Washington, where we visited them often. Surrounded and embraced by a number of local winemakers, our interest in wine deepened and in 2004 we started to make wine as a hobby with a group of friends. Over the years we discovered how satisfying it is to go through harvest and crush, and we began crafting wine that is enjoyed by fellow wine lovers and those interested in learning more. It was a small leap from hobbyist winemaking to starting our own winery. This called for a new winery home and so we converted our barn on our property in Sammamish, Washington in preparation for Sol Stone’s first harvest in 2011. Sol Stone started small and will remain so, crafting fewer than 2,000 cases of each vintage in lots ranging in size from one barrel to 200 cases.

Our journey began here on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwest Washington State. We own one of the original homesteads in the area and started making hard cider and wine from the wonderful heirloom apples from our homestead orchard in 1996, officially starting our winery in 2006. Some of the varieties include: Gravenstein, Winter Banana, Jonathan, Roxbury Russet, Winesap, Greening, and more. We also have a cider orchard with French and English varieties of cider apples. As our passion for winemaking blossomed, we found premium wine grapes from small eastern Washington vineyards. Our underground cellar proved to be the perfect place to age these wines. We have many family, friends, and mentors to thank for our continued success and look forward to the future as our business solidifies itself as one of the best craft beverage producers in the Northwest.

Not far down the road from The Arbor Day Lodge in Nebraska City sits the Historic Kimmel Orchard and Vineyard, founded by Richard Kimmel in 1925. A Nebraska City high school graduate and veteran of The Great War, Kimmel was a banker, a farmer, and one of the early arborists in a state that would soon come to be known for a love of the comfort that only trees can offer on the harsh plains of the Missouri River Valley. Shortly after planting his orchard, Richard Kimmel married Lauarine Oetgen, a neighbor who was, amongst other things, an accomplished painter and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and together they made a life for themselves on the eastern edge of Nebraska.

The fruit is still wonderfully sweet, the soil is just as rich and the breeze just as refreshing, especially on the top of a slight knoll where the really old vines live. You will see only head pruned vines, a few too many weeds and many skips where some of the old souls have finally given up, but the vineyard still remains.

Our winery, with its nature and wildlife theme, opened its doors in November 2007 and the response has been overwhelming. The winery is nestled in the beautiful mountains of the Allegheny National Forest in Warren County and located on Route 6 (Grand Army of the Republic Hwy), one mile east of the traffic light in Sheffield, PA. Our tasting room and gift shop provide a comfortable “woodsy” atmosphere where visitors are encouraged to sample from a wide selection of wines from dry to sweet. Take your time to browse the many wine related gifts we have to offer as well. You may just find that perfect gift for someone special.

Our philosophy at Nodland Cellars is to combine the disciplines of art, music and wine into a blend that engages all the senses of the body. Wine is not a commodity; it is liquid art, beautiful to the eye, pleasant to the nose, it delights the senses as it enters the mouth and becomes one with us as our body assimilates it into muscle and the mind brings with it an experience that enhances the soul. Winemaking is an art and the most original works are created by artists. We employ the traditional methods of winemaking that have been used centuries before the scientific method was devised, from the time when the wines were each unique works of art. Much like the grand estates of Bordeaux, we produce wines of high pedigree and then blends only from a few selected grape varieties. In Europe wines are usually not sold by a varietal name but by the name of the Chateau or the village where the grapes are grown. Often the French wines are made of blends of grapes that have been blended for centuries and based on thousands of years of grape growing experience. Here in the New World, Nodland […]

Our family has been farming in the Yakima Valley for over four generations. One of the pinnacle landmarks on our farm is the 70 year old Lone Birch Tree that resides amongst our vineyard. This tree not only provides shade to workers and direction to lost travelers, but most importantly, it provides inspiration to our family. The birch tree was planted by our great-great-grandfather, who had a great love for nature and was an inspirational steward of the land. This symbolic tree serves as a reminder of our commitment to care for the environment, reduce our carbon footprint, utilize sustainable farming practices, and ensure our farm lives on for generations to come.

Retro Cellars was founded in 2003 when Mike and Kara Dunn, natives of the Napa Valley wine industry, decided to make a wine of their own. Their current production includes two Petite Sirahs, one from the historic Park Muscatine Vineyard on Howell Mountain, and a Napa Valley Petite Sirah from the valley floor. Their wines embody the concept of “terroir”, a wine’s expression of the place of origin in the bottle, and an old world winemaking style that Mike learned from his dad.

It was in the mid-eighties when after reading a Sunset magazine article about Mendocino County that we discovered this special place: a highland valley where the waters of the Russian and Navarro Rivers start and part, and where the giant coastal redwoods and valley oaks come together. After our first visit to the area, we started looking for a property the following week. A number of them had small vineyards. We fell in love with the three ancient oaks on this property and were intuitively convinced that such a place would foster complex and richly favored grapes. So we secured a 110-acre ranch in the town of Yorkville (Pop. 317 – the sign said “Pop. 25” then…). There were already a few acres of neglected Sauvignon Blanc. With the help and dedication of our vineyard manager and the application of the latest organic practices, we restored those vines to fine, healthy plants. So the excellent quality of the small amount of fruit that these vines yielded became very encouraging. Over a few years, the vineyards were expanded to 30 acres and the first Yorkville Cellars estate wines were bottled in 1994.

Emmolo is the name of my mom’s side of the family, which has a long farming history in Napa Valley. My mom, Cheryl Emmolo, has no brothers and wanted to keep the name alive. She dreamed of making wine using family vineyards, and I feel really lucky that she’s now passed the reins on to me. When I showed my first vintage to my grandparents, it was very emotional for all of us.

Delicious! Is the adjective we hear the most when describing our wines. Our small family owned Terra Vina Wines, farms a vineyard on Parrett Mountain in the Chehalem Mountains AVA. We believe the fruit should speak for itself and that great wine begins in the vineyard where meticulous natural farming techniques, a long hang time with completely natural cellar techniques result in wines reflecting purity of flavor and balance. Our resulting wines are full-bodied and opulently complex. Known for our Big Reds, the Terra Vina label features vineyards in Eastern Oregon & Washington, while our “La Famiglia” label features estate grown fruit. We are not just Pinot Noir! We also grow Dolcetto and Cabernet Franc, which are proud to say we may have been the first to grow this varietal in the valley in 2011. Terra Vina reflects our personal mission as environmentally conscious people and vineyard owners. Our Respect of the Earth, Creates Great Wine. Your purchase of our wine supports this mission.

Several factors combine to make Sangiacomo Roberts Road Vineyard one of the best Chardonnay sites in northern California: well drained soils, clonal diversity, and the climate. Coastal influence shines through our Sangiacomo Roberts Road Chardonnay with great fruit and acid balance. The moderate climate of the 2016 growing season produced small clusters and low yields for concentrated flavors and length. A combination of new, once-used and neutral french oak barrels were used during fermentation. The wine displays light tropical fruit, ripe apple and pear finishing with great structure, richness and just the right finish.

What was once a prune orchard on Old Sonoma Road today is 27 acres of premium pinot noir vines and a reservoir. The vineyard is operated with sustainable farming practices and sufficient irrigation from captured rainwater each year. Today, Vivian Fotinos and the Fotinos Sisters and their families are partners in vineyard operations and wine making. The first vintage of Fotinos Vineyard Pinot Noir was bottled in 2003. George passed away in August of 2014, but Fotinos Vineyard carries on as a family partnership between Vivian, Angela, Margaret, Elaine and their families.

The Ferraro Family began growing popular Red Wine grapes in the Commune di Montemagno province of Piedmont located in the Northwest corner of Italy in the late 1800s. The Piedmont region is located in the foothills of the Alps, forming its border with France and Switzerland. Today, the Ferraro Family continues this tradition with our lush and full flavour wines. We build on this foundation of heritage on the Nickson family land and unique attributes of our vineyards in the Umpqua Valley. With almost 4 acres of Pinot Noir thriving in Roseburg vineyards, the Ferraro Family enjoyed their first harvest in 2009. While a few peers felt that this Pinot Noir would be a bit too young, it proved to be a delicious vintage that was smoky and complex. Within the following year, more grapes were sourced from southern and eastern Oregon, and more lush varietals were added to the Family’s line-up of featured wines.

It all started in 1999, with a conversation between Jim and previous co-owner Steve Garrett. We both had a special fondness for Old Vine Zin. Being able to make the wine ourselves felt like the epitome of our passion. I (Jim) had connections throughout the wine industry, and Steve Garrett had lots of time on his hands as a newly retired science teacher. That whim of “Hell! Let’s make some wine!” ended up turning into a full-on business that has grown steadily over the years. Steve sadly passed away in 2010, but we’re certain he’d love what Old Growth Cellars has become. The winery still runs on the same idea: good friends united by a shared love for good wine.

This farm captured our imagination from the first moment we saw it. The rolling pastures, the private and secluded home, the water and mountain views – the vineyard. We were not grape growers, we were not wine makers, and we were not farmers. We had no other plan than to live on this land and relax. Ten years on, our vision has cleared, our children have grown, and we have had time to reflect on what is important to us. In looking at this building, some might ask why did we build something so large and inviting, so embryonic in its potential with so much work as its core. The why is easy. We built it for our family. We built it for the memories that will be created, for the unions that will be witnessed, for the gatherings that will long be remembered, and for the many causes and community needs that this space will satisfy. We built it to celebrate the lives of those who shaped us, those who inspired us, and those we will long remember. We built it to frequently gather those around us who feel at home when they are here, who feel a part […]

This is a very expressive wine aromatically, with lychee, cranberry, kola, raspberry, red cherries abounding with hints of cinnamon and clove, wildflower honey, and cacao. Flavors of red fruits including pomegranate are accented by wisps of cedar and a hint of leather. This wine has a bright, food-friendly profile. This wine is ready to drink now and should drink well for the next three to five years.

Had a great time there, ordered a glass of their semisweet wine, which was delightful, ordered Lobster Bisque, a 12 oz Ribeye with mashed redskins potatoes and season vegetables, the steak was cooked to perfection on a charcoal grill delicious and real tender too, perhaps the best steak that I had in Central Florida, Awesome, the Blueberry cheesecake was also awesome. This is a real gem hidden, they also had a gentleman singing and playing the Saxophone or Flute. Had a great time there and will definitely be back

he Carlo & Julian Estate Vineyard, first planted in 1991, is located in Carlton, now recognized as the centre of a wine region producing Pinot noir of the highest quality and excellence. The Carlo & Julian Estate Vineyard was the first and for many years the only vineyard within Carlton. Design elements unique to the Estate Vineyard are the soil and exposure; nominally a somewhat eroded Woodburn series soil with a sedimentary profile of mixed glacial and marine origin, the vineyard planting is at the top of the terrace with excellent drainage of water and air. The relatively low elevation and proximity to Carlton make for warmer days than the surrounding area, low nighttime temperatures allow retention of acids and enhanced formation of anthocyanins and other phenolics in the fruit, resulting in excellent colour, aroma and ageing qualities to the wine. We get our hands around our work, and work with skill and dexterity, to make a wine like no other, a wine we are proud of.
