The site of Mount Tehama Winery began in 1982 with 20 acres of brush and countless rocks and boulders. A Christmas tree plantation was originally established which required no pesticide application. This started the foundation for a healthy soil, and a philosophy of concern for the environment.

In 1997 we sold our home in suburban Ferndale, MI and put everything we had into the purchase of our property and the development of the vineyard, all in the pursuit of the American dream. The property was all wooded, so we immediately began clearing trees and planting vines. We cleared and planted roughly seven acres per year in 1997, 1998 and 1999 – and have filled in other areas of the property for 24 acres of grapes. We opened our wine tasting room on March 1, 2002. Kip, a wood worker for 25 years, closed his woodshop to follow his passion and become a first generation farmer and winemaker. His refined palate and quest for excellence have served him well in the production of our wines. Dennise, a former flight attendant, oversees the wine tasting room and is the driving force behind the distribution of our wines to many fine retail stores throughout the metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and Lansing areas. We hope you enjoy our wines as much as we enjoy presenting them to you.

Founded in 1855, the Adam Puchta Winery is the oldest, continuously owned family winery in the United States. Ownership has been in the hands of the Puchta family without interruption for 7 generations since 1855. It began with a boat ride, a cattle drive, gold mining and a long walk. Adam immigrated to the United States in 1839 with his parents and brothers and sisters. His father, John Henry Puchta, a Bavarian winemaker and butcher, settled his family in the Frene Creek Valley where land was purchased for growing grapes. Adam and Fredrick (his brother) and a group of young men from Hermann drove a head of cattle from Hermann to California to participate in the gold rush. After selling the cattle to miners, Adam stayed for two years mining gold, then returned to Hermann via the gold fields of Nicaragua then walking his way through Panama before returning to Hermann. After purchasing land from his father, Adam constructed a stone arched wine cellar and Press House. In 1855, the first vintage of Adam Puchta wines were produced from his father’s vineyards. By the 1870’s Adam was a well-established winemaker and businessman.

It’s been just about a year and a half since we planted the first vineyard plot and we just planted plot two this past May. We are in the process of finishing up work on the tasting room and event space just to the East of the Vineyard and hope to be open December of 2015. Although we don’t have official hours, you can stop by and check out our vineyard any time. VERITAS Equestrian Center is located on the same property, so there is ample parking and usually horse related activities or chores going on throughout the day as well. We don’t have a website for the Vineyard and Winery yet, but you can find us at veritasequestriancenter.com; we’ll get the winery site up and running once we have a better idea when the tasting room will be open. In Vino Veritas–drop by and experience our beautiful Iowa setting. Be Inspired!

Over the last two decades McPrice (Mac) Myers has been crafting wines of depth and balance that showcase the multiple terroirs and climates of the Central Coast – from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles. Mac produced his first vintage in 2002 with half a ton of grapes in a small cooperative in Paso Robles. From that humble beginning Mac has developed a growing portfolio of wines with broad appeal. In 2014 Mac moved the winery to the current site nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Adelaida District. Over the years, McPrice Myers wines continue to garner increasing attention from wine lovers and critics alike. On a cold December day, a wine enthusiast walked into the rustic McPrice Myers tasting room to try Mac’s wines for the first time. Immediately wowed by the depth and sophistication of the wines, Venus Lai signed up for the wine club. Little did anyone know that this would be the beginning of a journey that two years later would lead to a partnership to purchase the property – 84 acres of Adelaida District land that they named Belle Terre (a play on Beautiful Earth – one of Mac’s flagship wines), which was home to […]

I only have two rules when it comes to wine — drink what makes you happy and drink it with people you love. With those two rules in hand, I craft delicious wine from Missouri grapes and complement it with wines I enjoy from other producers from all over the world. I don’t care about scores and awards; I care whether or not what you’re drinking makes you want to have another glass and how big your smile is when you taste it.

In the year 2000, Charles Brammer, Jr. was a junior in college when his recently retired father, Charles Brammer, Sr., began talking about dabbling in winemaking, using the muscadine grapes and other fruits grown on the family’s farm in Harpersville. For his part, Brammer, considering his post graduation options, was looking for a career. He suggested joining forces. “I said, ‘Well, if you want to do this, let’s make a business out of it,’” remembers Brammer, who was majoring in finance and accounting.

Adagio A musical term which means performed slowly with passion, two descriptors which apply to the growing and making of wine. We named the vineyard and winery Adagio which best represents our passions for classical music and wine. The Owners Dr. Tim and Dr. Jan Wahl are both practicing dentists. Tim has a certificate in Winemaking from The University of California at Davis and is a member of the Guild of Sommeliers. Jan is a classical violinist, having played for the Brevard Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne Florida for 25 years, and a violin maker having studied under German master the late Karl Roy at the University of New Hampshire. The tasting room reflects both our passions, experiencing fine wines and as a showcase for Jan’s violins and violin making. Here guests can experience fine wine, music and explore the process of creating hand made violins, a true artisan process. At Adagio, we want to create an environment of passionate discovery for our guests. The History The concept which was to become Adagio Vineyards started in 2006 with clearing the land, creating roads and planting the fescue cover crop. The rolling topography was both essential and ideal for a vineyard. The first grapes were […]

Frankie was born and raised in Walla Walla, but took a quick 30-year side trip to California before returning in August of 2019 and entering the Walla Walla art community. Frankie says that his work is almost entirely concerned with the act and process of painting itself. Paint gives expression to intuitive feelings of silence, form, structure, and organizing power. All else including results, evolving subject matter and mood, and so forth follow this. Ron paints controversial characters who are known for their complicated — and sometimes negative — reputations. They are all people of consequence whether they be saints or scoundrels. Ron captures a bit of personality in these portraits, though he says it may not be their true personality; however, it just might make people think about the characters a little differently. His style is deliberately awkward with colorful clumsiness using a combination of colors that are not usually used in traditional portraits. Steve’s art includes drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, assembled sculptures, animated films, cartoons, fused glass, and serigraphs. His favorite mediums are acrylics, pastels, ceramics, sea glass, fiberglass resin, and found objects. His goal is to create images and objects that many people don’t see, while […]

Starr Ranch is a family owned and operated ranch located on the Central Coast of California specializing in ultra premium wine grape production. A thorough search in California led us to the hills of Adelaida where we found a ranch with the potential to produce the ultimate in ultra-premium wine grapes. Sometimes it’s less expensive to build a winery than to keep your wife supplied with wine. At least that’s David DelMonaco’s explanation for how a weekend hobby evolved into a premier Tennessee winery and vineyard. Barbara and David started making wine in their basement in 2002. It was fun, challenging, & rewarding. They soon joined other wine enthusiasts as members of TVOS, Tennessee’s amateur wine-making society, and their infatuation with the grape continued to grow. They planted four varieties of grapes around their home, and the wine making expanded. By 2006 they’d relocated to 52 beautiful acres in Putnam County, Tennessee, that were perfect for growing grapes.

Our story dates back to the 1970’s, when Dieter, our founder, made it to Eugene from the then communist East Germany, despite the Berlin wall. In his early years in the US, he was a tree planter; he let go of his computer analyst skills to play in the dirt. Driven by his passion for nature, and inspired by the landscape of the Elbe River Vineyards, and the romance of the wine villages which he experienced while he attended university in Dresden, Germany, Dieter planted his first vines at High Pass Vineyard in 1984. At that time, it was initially a 20-acre parcel of land and he saw the potential of this area, at a time when no one else did. Most people thought he was a crazy immigrant with a crazy idea! A few years later, he started producing some of the premium wine grapes that gained Oregon international acclaim. Local wineries were willing buyers of his early crops, but he always made sure that there were enough grapes left for him to learn about wine-making himself. High Pass Winery’s first commercial crush occurred in 1994. Dieter has established more vineyards in the area and sold them, or at […]

Our vineyard and winery are at 2000 feet elevation near the top of Spring Mountain in the western hills of the Napa Valley. We arrived on Spring Mountain in 1975 and began planting our vineyard in 1981, though vines were first planted here at the end of the 19th century. The oldest vines are now from 1985 and our youngest were planted in 1997. Our ten-acre vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. We farm our vineyard ourselves using organic practices.

What defines MacPhail? Our little red wagon says it all. Family. Fun. Serious when we need to be (but not too much). From the beginning, which isn’t all that long ago, we’ve believed that wine is art with a splash of science. Our first vintage was 2002, so you haven’t had a long time to get to know us. But we’re easy. We use traditional, old-world winemaking techniques with minimal intervention to deliver wines that are flavorful enough to tell you a lot about our exceptional vineyards in Sonoma County and Mendocino’s Anderson Valley. We forge strong partnerships with growers willing to join us in this ongoing adventure. Restless and curious, always searching to answer a simple question: what is Pinot Noir? Crafted by nature, nurtured by our hands. The little red wagon that graces our label symbolizes timeless design and exceptional quality. We like the idea that kids play in wagons, and share simple joys. No reason we can’t as well. So we try not to take ourselves too seriously, even as we’re very serious about our wines.

We make a small production of sought-after wines, selected intentionally for their merit and potential. Washington State produces some of the finest grapes in the country, and we source from renowned vineyards. We create wines that represent our style with authentic varietal character, resulting in the highest quality we strive for each day. We started this journey in 1999 with a few tons of grapes in a friend’s garage. That first vintage sold out quickly, and to say it has been a wild ride is an understatement. Looking back, we never could have guessed where we would land – with critical acclaim abounding, national and international availability, and welcoming tasting rooms in Woodinville and Walla Walla. Our dedication to producing the highest quality wines is uncompromising. We are authentic, intentional, and approachable.

After practicing medicine in San Francisco for many years, Doctors Joseph and Genevieve Roche yearned to purchase a place in the country to escape to on the weekends with their young family. Because both were raised in farming families, they searched for a piece of property where they could raise fruit crops and have a small farm. In 1976, they looked at a large estate in southern Sonoma Valley, and because locals had assumed this area was an unfavorable region for grape growing, it was being offered for quite a bargain. Since the Roche family had no real intention of ever growing grapes, they fell in love with this property because of its beautiful rolling hills, streams, valleys, and proximity to San Francisco. The property was purchased by Joseph and Genevieve that same year, and by the following year, they made the decision to call it home and move their young family there permanently.

Jim analyzed the water, soil and climate. Finding the conditions ideal, he started digging in the earth once more. He planted and nurtured the finest grapes with his own hands and the help of a hard-working team. Expert winemakers joined the team to create the wines that would establish the Temecula winery’s reputation. Becoming a vintner inspired another chapter in Jim’s story: building South Coast Winery Resort & Spa. Complete with villas, a restaurant and a spa situated in the middle of 63 acres, his story continues to grow, much like the vines he first planted.

ALIQUIPPA — Tom Glatz the jeweler became Tom Glatz the winemaker on a whim. It happened about 1980 when his wife came home from Pittsburgh with a tub of grape leaves, one of the main ingredients in making stuffed grape leaves. When Glatz heard the price — $60 — he knew he could grow better grape leaves for less money. The grapes were a bonus. “Honestly, I’m really a farmer. I just really like growing things,” said Glatz, who has operated a jewelry business in Aliquippa since 1976.

Spoiled Dog Winery was founded in 2003 by Jack and Karen Krug. While they might appear to be your conventional winery owners, there is nothing conventional about their approach to wine. One doesn’t think of Washington first or maybe even second when it comes to Pinot Noir. When they decided to move to Whidbey Island and start a winery in a beautiful farm setting, Karen’s passion for Pinot Noir led her to conduct exhaustive research and identify a diverse set of clones that thrive in the maritime micro-climate of Whidbey Island and produce a distinctive complex yet balanced wine using sustainable growing methods. Spoiled Dog Winery’s second generation joined the family business when Jake and Lindsay moved to Whidbey Island from Colorado with their children in 2015. This has brought a new perspective to the winery along with both generations taking a lead role in winemaking, sales, vineyard care and tasting room management. Having two generations on the farm and in the winery has allowed us to share our family’s passion of wine with more people than we ever imagined possible. If you love good wine, our grapes are sourced from some of the best vineyards in Washington and Oregon. Our […]

Our Maison Bleue Estate Vineyard was planted in 2018 with 15-acres of Syrah, Grenache and Viognier. It is located at the entrance to the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater AVA and sits at one of the higher elevations to minimize frost damage. The site also features some of the largest stones in the appellation, because it was in the center of the path of the Walla Walla River where the water was moving the swiftest to leave these large deposits. We source from some of the highest-quality neighboring vineyards and will harvest our first crop from our estate vineyard in 2020. After studying and working in nine different winemaking regions in four countries, Winemaker Marc Leahy and his family settled in Walla Walla Valley. Marc has had the good fortune to work with hedonists, old-world craftsmen and craftswomen, academics and enological technicians, to shape his winemaking over the years and provide him with the depth and breadth of experience to create world-class wines. In his free time, Marc loves to cook and play his guitar for his two young daughters. For now, they think he plays great!

Ken Starr learned the art of making wine by his father’s side in 1952. When stationed in Europe in the early 60’s, Ken visited many wineries and appreciated the German style of wine making. He started making wine on his own from 1966 to 1977. In 1994, he purchased property in Curwensville, Pennsylvania and planted 12 vines. By 1998, there were 3000 vines… Concord, Niagara, Traminette, Foch and Leon Millot. He built a winery in 1998 and started making wine again. The wine was good prompting him to go commercial in 2005. Starr decided to start making his wine commercially. Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery located on 13 acres in Clearfield County produces over 40 varieties of our Handcrafted Wines for Perfect Moments.

Yuma’s Main Squeeze features a low-cost wine club membership with a social aspect. Membership includes two bottles of wine every month, two glasses of wine or tastings every week, and 10 per cent off anything purchased. “It’s nice for the customer to be able to come in and put a personal label on a bottle of wine, for gifts or special occasions,” Mary said. “Our winter residents often will suspend their membership through the summer, and reactivate it in the winter.” The entry area of Yuma’s Main Squeeze invites a return visit, as it hosts a changing display of locally created art pieces; the theme within the restaurant and winery is 1930s Hollywood.

In 1989 Doug and his wife Carol purchased the ranch in the Texas Hill Country, north and west of Dripping Springs. It was rough and needed a lot of work but we always knew that it was a special place. Between 1989 and 2003 we worked hard clearing, building, and working the land. Doug and Carol designed and had a friend build their home on the ranch’s hilltop in 2003, overlooking what would become our first vineyard site.

Northern Flow Vineyards was established in 2015 by Phil DeLuke. Drawing upon two decades of horticultural experience and a passion for fine wine, Phil planted his first vineyards in 2012. After completing a comprehensive winemaking program at nearby Jefferson Community College, he began making his first wines. The next few years were spent honing his craft. In May of 2016 Phil opened the doors to his winery and tasting room located on the premises of DeLuke’s Garden Center in Clayton. Accolades soon followed. Northern Flow took first place in the 2016 New York Wine and Food Classic Competition for its very first Marquette vintage, bottled in 2015. Northern Flow Vineyards is small by design, placing the focus on making the best possible wines with the kind of care and attention to detail that goes hand in hand with small batch production. Northern Flow Vineyards is a small farm winery situated along the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands region of Northern New York, about a two hours’ drive north of the Finger Lakes. It’s an exciting time for winemaking in the Thousand Islands. Recently, researchers at the University of Minnesota have developed new cold-hardy grape varieties bred to withstand […]

Courtney Benham founded Angeline in 1990, in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. Made at Martin Ray Winery, Angeline’s philosophy is producing wine that is a true expression of its varietal. Not the opening act for Martin Ray wines or the b-side of the business, Angeline is the backbone – with wines that quickly took hold as a reliable great by-the-glass order in restaurants and bars around California. Soon after, Independent retailers and wine shops took notice, followed by national retailers and recently internet sales have helped take Angeline international.

Fenn Valley Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery complex established in 1973. Our goal has always been to produce world-class wines from grapes grown along the shore of Lake Michigan. The Fenn Valley estate is a 240 acre farm located five miles from Lake Michigan just south of Holland, Michigan. The site was chosen after reviewing weather, climate, and soil survey maps. Unlike farmers who already own farm land and then begin to grow grapes, the Welsch family migrated from the Chicago area and were therefore free to select the most desirable site for viticulture based on the available data.

“Soli Invicto Mithrae” is an inscription found on Mithraic temples from Scotland to India. It was a statement made by believers when making an offering of wine “to the Sun, Invincible Mithra.” mithra, the sun god, the Uncreated Creator, was the dominant religion of the Roman Empire, pre-Christianity. The religion found its origins in Persia from 5,000 years past. It did not discriminate based on race or position, as senators and farmers, alike, would become members. The theme was simple, Immortality. To become as one with Mithra. To gain knowledge of the Heavens. To be reborn.

Keeling-Schaefer wines are produced from fruit grown on our estate vineyards. We harvest 21-acres of mostly ENTAV ensured French grapevines on our Home Place Vineyard and our Rock Creek Vineyard. One thing different about us compared to many other wineries is that we grow our own fruit and make all of our wine in the winery placed on the vineyard. It is such an advantage to be able to control all aspects of winemaking, including all of the harvesting decisions.

Don and Wendy Lange founded their eponymous winery and estate vineyard in 1987 with the purchase of a thirty-acre parcel in Northern Willamette Valley’s prestigious Dundee Hills. Their move north from Santa Barbara was precipitated by a few inspiring bottles from two of Oregon’s most iconic producers: Eyrie and Erath. A call to Dick Erath (whose phone number was listed on the back label) convinced the Langes to embark on a scouting trip. Starting at the southern end of the Willamette Valley, they tasted their way up, stopping only when they reached the Dundee Hills.. The couple saw a real estate sign advertising a property suitable for farmland—the property’s elevation and aspect reminded Don of the Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. After producing their inaugural vintage in 1987 from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris purchased from neighboring vineyards, the Langes planted their estate vineyard in 1988.

Duchamp Estate Winery is committed to growing the finest Syrah grapes at our Dry Creek Valley vineyards. We planted Syrah, and only Syrah, because it makes a beautiful, long-lived red wine with rich, ripe flavors that marry well with the kinds of food we prefer to serve today. Syrah is the noble grape variety used to make the famous Rhone wines of Cote Rotie and Hermitage.

The winery facilities at Slate Run Vineyard were designed by Keith for maximum flexibility. Many lots of wine are produced using barrels and small tanks. The use of variable capacity tanks for odd lot sizes is used extensively. The variable capacity tanks comprise a vat with a lid that will float on the wine. The lid has a bladder similar to a bicycle inner tube that is inflated to provide a tight seal against the wall of the tank. This method eliminates head space in the tank that could lead to deterioration of the wine. These tanks also have a lot of versatility and are used as fermenters, as well as mixing and blending tanks.

Ingleside Vineyards is one of the oldest and largest wineries in Virginia. Located in the Northern Neck of Virginia, Ingleside is surrounded by rich American history. Nearby are the birthplaces of George Washington, James Monroe and Robert E. Lee. This historic estate has been owned by the Flemer family for over one hundred years. Charles H. Flemer purchased Ingleside in 1890, and today one of his great-great grandsons is proprietor of Ingleside Vineyards, Doug Flemer. The winery is housed in the plantation’s former dairy barns. The first commercial wines were produced in 1980 and were made from hand-harvested grapes grown in the vineyards. Ingleside wines are produced in the same way they are produced today and have consistently earned top honors in state, national, and international wine competitions. Virginia’s Northern Neck is a peninsula formed by the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers. They are tributaries of the majestic Chesapeake Bay. The Bay is a major factor in creating a stable climate fundamental to grow top-quality vines. The vineyards cover about 50 acres of gently rolling and well-drained countryside. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely tour and tasting, as well as a visit to the Ingleside museum, which showcases local and natural history. […]

From vine to bottle, Paul Schwenk has his own hand in the work and art of creating the award winning wines of Schwenk Wine. Beginning with heirloom recipes handed down from his great-grandfather–a wine-maker from Germany–Paul has evolved his own unique blends of grapes and other fruits to create the Schwenk collection of wines. Paul and Cathy Schwenk, owners of Schwenk Wine Cellars, dreamed for years of operating their own winery. Recently their dreams formed into reality on their small farm where Paul has been growing grapes and making award-winning wines since 1983. With Cathy close to retirement, the couple built their cozy wine-tasting room so people from near and far could stop in to sample and purchase the full line of Schwenk wines.

This is a new, small, family owned, boutique producer located in Newberg, Oregon. I have been impressed with the Pinot Noirs and Chardonnay since the 2006 vintage. Laura makes all the winegrowing decisions herself, performs practically all of the physical work in the vineyard, and for the most part, won’t let anyone else touch the vines. In the winery, she is so intense in everything she does, her very tolerant husband (bless him!) kids “she takes every bottle personally.” She likens her passion and dedication to an author writing a great who can lock on and entirely focuses on the job at hand. “I have blinders on from April until the end of crush,” she said. Of all the many grape varietals, Pinot Noir is the most temperamental, a fickle prodigy if you will, and the one that can be brought to perform brilliantly only through meticulous parenting in the vineyard and in the winery. This explains why some of the world’s greatest Pinot Noirs come from very small producers who can personally nurse the frivolous grape every step of the way. Laura Volkman personifies this ideal and her wines show the results.

Klickitat Canyon & Columbia Gorge Winery is a small, family-run winery that creates natural wines in the old world tradition. Our wines are processed entirely by hand to reflect the true character of the Columbia Gorge Appellation. The joy of winemaking is rooted deeply into the culture of Europe and includes both the art of growing the grapes and the art of making the wine. Our experiences in Europe emphasized the intricate relationship of wine to its rooted origins in the soil and this notion guides the philosophy of our winery today: Wine should not be created and manipulated in a chemistry lab, as is being promoted by the growing US wine industry. Instead, wine is a beautifully crafted representation of the grapes and the location on which they grew.

Samantha Sheehan founded POE in 2009 after being inspired by the wines she tasted in Burgundy and Champagne. The goal is not to replicate Burgundy, but rather create alluring, vineyard specific, age-worthy wines revealing the beautiful terroir of California. There is minimal intervention, judicious use of sulfur, and never any additives. POE produces traditional Champagne method sparkling wines, rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a nouveau from Pinot Noir. Each wine is made in very limited quantities, and sold directly from the winery and to high-end restaurants around the country.

We are a small, family-owned winery with deep roots in this rugged, fertile, West Sonoma County utopia for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. At the heart of Chenoweth Wines is a 20-year history of farming some of the most coveted grapes in Sonoma County on the land that has been in our family since the mid-1800’s. Leading the winemaking team is Amy Chenoweth, our sassy matriarch who helps her husband, Charlie, run their very successful grape growing business. Amy was bitten by the winemaking bug after watching rock star winemakers turn our family grapes into prized vintages. Now she, Charlie, their two sons, and a few other close friends who are considered family, keep a small portion of the Chenoweth grapes and create their own wines. Every grape, every step of the winemaking process, the bottling and labeling is done by us. It is our passion, and we are excited to share it with you!

Vintage Virginia Apples was founded in 2000 by the Shelton family. In our orchard, we grow a variety of tree fruits that are becoming increasingly rare. Many of these are older varieties that have fallen into obscurity or just do not fit the needs of today’s commercial marketing and distribution systems. Cast aside in the search for perfectly saleable, shippable and storable fruit are hundreds of heirloom and local varieties, a vibrant universe of texture, flavor and scent. We started with apples We began by planting a small array of interesting apples, which has grown now to more than 200 different cultivars, both heirloom and more recent varieties. We have also experimented with growing a variety of other fruits including peaches, pears and plums. Our nursery has grown from this love of vintage varieties, which we aim to share with like-minded orchardists by offering over 100 varieties of fruit trees from our collection through our fall/winter catalog which we post online each fall. Many of these varieties are virtually unobtainable elsewhere. Our catalog is online and we accept orders when the trees are dormant and best suited for shipping and planting (Dec-Mar). Our workshops have been well received and we […]

The % alcohol by volume is on every alcoholic beverage label in the world, including the case of wine and the bottle of tequila we drank the night we decided to start our own company. Today, ALC/VOL offers a diverse portfolio of wines from California’s premier growing regions. Our mission is to turn up the volume on wines that we believe will be the next rock stars of the wine world. If it’s too loud, you’re too old. ALC/VOL is the realization of our punk vision. We built careers in some of the largest, most successful wine companies in the world, but that sometimes meant toeing the company line rather than doing what was right for our relationships, our brands, or the health of the business. So we set out to build a company that would put those things first. Building a new company has been the hardest work we’ve ever done, but we feel lucky to work with people we trust, sell wines that we believe in, and make the decisions that we feel are good, not just beneficial. And that freedom is truly punk.

Castillo de Feliciana Vineyard & Winery is named after my great Aunt, Feliciana. However, when I was a little girl growing up I only knew her as Aunt Tana or Tia Tana. She was the sister to my grandfather on my mom’s side. She lived alone most of her life. She was married to a Spaniard but did not have children. My mom used to take us to visit her when we were little. She didn’t speak very much English. When we’d visit, she somehow knew that my brother and I were bored and would tell us to go and get gum from her purse (a little black purse she kept in her bedroom). I remember the scent of that purse. It smelled like roses (floral) from her face powder, fruity – from the Juicy Fruit gum, a little musty because it was old, a little bit of tobacco (although my mom says she never smoked), and of course, it smelled of leather. It is our hope to provide you with outstanding wine and a memorable experience for you, your family and friends. Our winery design was inspired by the Southern region of Spain called Andalucia where the majestic blue […]

What started out as a small tasting group called “Mad Dog” and maturing into “The Downtown Oenilogical Group” this core circle of five friends sought the experience of winemaking to deepen their understanding and appreciation as end users. With each backyard and loading dock vintage under their belt, the desire to go deeper took root. In 2012, with a unique and varied skill set, the five created Laelaps, a true commercial enterprise. To the five of us, Laelaps represents the endless pursuit of that which is genuine, perfect, and really tasty.

A Family Affair- Rodrigue Molyneaux Estate Winery and Vineyard Garry Nancy and Lindsey Photo for Web.jpeg Our passion is to produce wine from our own vineyard. We are invested personally in every aspect of our product from planting to growing to bottling. We enjoy the total production process and know each bottle of wine intimately. We like to be hands on with the grapes, the processing and the promoting of our wine. The tasting room is the end product of all of our efforts, so we are always there. Forty years ago, Nancy and Garry found a bit of paradise and set down roots in the Livermore Valley. They saw its future as a burgeoning wine region and desperately wanted to jump on board. They saw the light when Livermore set aside many acres of agricultural land and new wineries began popping up. In 1997 they bought the land on Marina Avenue, planted it in grapes and have never looked back. For the next few years, the winery unfolded step-by-step. They put their hard work ethic to good use and developed the landscape, the buildings and the winery business that is flourishing today. They combined their family names, and Rodrigue […]

Carlo and Rosa Marchesi loved, tended and respected the land in their hometown in Northern Italy. They grew and produced their own food, made their own wine, and thrived on their sustainable lifestyle. When they immigrated to the northeastern United States, they continued this tradition while instilling this same love for the land in their grandson, Rudy Marchesi. Rudy grew, made and sold wine on the East Coast while raising his own family, but became captivated by Oregon wine country. Oregon was a place, he believed, that fostered creativity. It was a place where the beauty of the land could be developed in the grapes and showcased in the wines. After overseeing operations and serving as vineyard consultant for several years at Montinore Estate, Rudy became proprietor of the 200-acre estate in 2005. Today, his grandparents’ legacy is alive and well. In the ground, in the vines, and in the bottle.

While planning for retirement we discussed the possibility of owning a vineyard or winery. It is important to acknowledge the word “or” in the previous sentence. Its relevance will become clear later in our story. Although we enjoyed wine and knew about it from the consumer’s perspective, we didn’t really know what owning a vineyard or winery really meant. In 2002, we started doing our homework. We found a wealth of knowledge on the Internet and read every book we could find on viticulture (growing grapes) and winemaking. Still eager to learn more, we came across South Seattle Community College which offered a number of classes we could attend to fill in the gaps in our book knowledge. The first classes we took were in the fall of 2004. Like a fish grabbing a lure, we were hooked.
