Our historic civil war era building was built in 1868 and has had many tenants over the years, including being the home to the original Ahnapee Brewery, Kelsey Fly Net Co (which was the original business of our current Algoma Net Company), a factory, and feed mill storage building. Von Stiehl Winery made this building its own in 1967 by Dr. Charles Stiehl, the local physician known as Doc Stiehl.

Arrington Vineyards opened its door July 1, 2007. From the beginning we have been striving to provide a “wine country experience” with award-winning wines set in the rolling hills of middle Tennessee owned by country music legend Kix Brooks, master vintner Kip Summers, and Nashville businessman John Russell. Our vineyards were originally established in 2003 when Kip Summers and a fellow wine enthusiast purchased a 25 acre hog farm. In 2004, Kix Brooks purchased the farm adjacent to the original vineyards which included the farmhouse that would be repurposed for our tasting room and first retail space.

Frederick and Catherine Leaser Farm, also known as Frederick Leaser Farm, is a historic home and farm located at Lynn Township, Lehigh County, PA. It includes the original log cabin (c. 1750), Pennsylvania German vernacular farmhouse (1849), Pennsylvania bank barn (1888), outhouse (c. 1900), smokehouse (c. 1900), summer kitchen/baking house (c. 1850), wagon shed (c. 1906), poultry shed (c. 1875), two frame storage sheds, and a corn crib (c. 1910). Also on the property is the family burial ground and an archaeological site surveyed in 1981-1982. The farm was in the Leaser family from 1750 to 1998.

While we first opened the doors to Liberty Vineyards & Winery in 2008, its history goes back much longer – to 1839 when the Reuben Butler family (ancestors of the Burmaster family who currently own and operate the vineyards and winery) headed west from Herkimer County, New York and settled in the small town of Sheridan, New York near Lake Erie. They built their home on Main Road in Sheridan, just in front of the site where Liberty Vineyards & Winery now stands. The Butlers began farming the land. In the 1860s, Sheldon “Rufus Butler and his family planted about 7 acres of Concord grapes. While most of the grapes grown in this original vineyard were transported on trains to cities where they were sold on the fresh market, Rufus was also a winemaker and was listed in the the 1891 Directory of the Grape Growers, Winemakers and Distillers of California, and of the Principal Grape Growers and Wine Makers Of the Eastern United States Published by the Board of State Viticultural Commissioners of California. Today, the Concord vineyard Rufus planted remains one of the most productive vineyards on the property and is lovingly referred to as the “Old Vineyard”.

Wollersheim Winery sits on a scenic hillside across the Wisconsin River from Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. In the 1840s, the Hungarian nobleman Agoston Haraszthy discovered the sloped land where the winery sits today, and planted it with grapevines. During his short time in Wisconsin, Haraszthy also incorporated the state’s first town, Sauk City. In December of 1849, he followed the gold rush to California, where he also had a hand in developing the state’s wine industry.

Rosa Fierro Cellars is a 100 percent woman owned winery that specializes in making hand crafted, limited production, award winning wines from Livermore and Napa Valleys. Pizzulli is not new to winemaking. In 2003, he planted Sangiovese vines in a half-acre hillside vineyard located on the grounds of his Pacific Palisades home. Once upon a time in the land of Yadkin, near the heart of what is now the Yadkin Valley Wine appellation Region, Frank W.
