Established in 1982 on a former dairy farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley, Millbrook Vineyards & Winery produces a range of high-quality wines that includes Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Tocai Friulano. Guests are welcome for daily tastings in the restored Dutch barn, and guided tours are offered on weekends. Millbrook Vineyards & Winery was the first vineyard in the Hudson River Region of New York State dedicated exclusively to the production of vinifera grapes. Founded on principles of innovation and experimentation, Dyson’s adventure in oenophilia developed into a bustling business. Millbrook Vineyards & Winery officially opened for tours and tastings in 1998. Today, it produces between 10-15,000 cases of wine annually. The 30 acres of vines include plantings of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and an Italian grape varietal called Tocai Friulano.

Our story begins in the Russian River Valley, where Gary Farrell made his first wines on handshake deals with the growers in the region’s pioneer growers – Rochioli, Allen, Hallberg – whose Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards captured a time and a place. Today, we maintain this approach to winemaking, starting in the vineyards of the Russian River AVA and beyond, with the same focus on pure varietal expression.

The wrath of Juno sent Aeneas wandering the Mediterranean in Vergil’s Aeneid. For the ancient Romans, ira or wrath, was a tool of a god, an unstoppable anger driven by forces greater than man. One can argue that we see such fury in both the might of nature and the passion of art. Wrath appears in the edgy power of Robert Plant’s voice and the raw wail of Eric Clapton’s guitar. It is frozen into Jackson Pollock’s violent splatters of paint. Wrath is in the wall of maritime fog that rolls into the Salinas Valley and the relentless afternoon winds that scream through our grape trellises.

J. Maki makes wine sourced from 32 acres of vines in Elverson, Chester County – not far outside of Philadelphia. Perhaps, like us, you first heard of them from their attraction signs on the Turnpike. Then again, you may have tuned into the word-of-mouth about their dessert wines or champagne.

Chip began Burnet Ridge Winery, named after the street where he grew up in Northern Kentucky, to make quality wine for himself and his friends and family. This small Old-World style of winery was never intended to be a commercial operation but one of personal enjoyment. Working as safety engineer for the state of Kentucky during the day and researching and experimenting with wine at night, Chip perfected his wines. Chip would often show up at local wine tastings with his hand-crafted artisan wines and share them with local wine advocates. When people asked Chip where he purchased his wine he would humbly say, “I make this in my garage.” In 1993 Chip, with the help of his friend Steve Dietrich, began Burnet Ridge, Inc. as commercial winery which has been producing high-quality fine wines ever since.

Silkwood Wines began life in 1979 with a Chardonnay produced at Spring Mountain Winery in St. Helena. This Chardonnay won great reviews and was served frequently in the Reagan White House. President Reagan, Ed Meiss, Michael Dever and George Bush also served it and transported it aboard Air Force One to French, Canadian, and Mexico Summits. My grandfather produced Alicante Bouschet until phyloxera wiped out the vines. He planted rice, which controlled the pest and made eight barrels a year from a few vines of AB and Muscat. My family continues to produce rice in Northern California.

Willow Creek Winery was established in 1999 by Jim Emerson in his garage. Mr. Emerson was a teacher for Lake Shore Central School. He was a homemade wine maker for 20 years. His hobby turned into a dream. Jim started a wine making club in 1992 which grew to 40 members. In 1999 he retired from teaching. Together with 15 winemakers, Willow Creek Winery was born. Unfortunately in 2000 Mr. Emerson unexpectedly passed away. Upon his passing Mr. Doug Metzger took over as president. Mr. Metzger renovated the grounds adding in a beautiful pond accompanied with a gazebo., spent time digging in the creek making some picturesque hand- made waterfalls. And in 2012 completely remodeled the tasting room/ retail store, opening it up to one amazing space. Upon doing so Mr. Metzger came across the original wood beams from the 1800’s that he fell in love with and proudly restored to their original form giving the room a wonderful rustic feel. In 2016 as Doug retired his sister-law and niece “Carolanne and Jessica Metzger” took over the winery. Since opening, Willow Creek Winery has always been dedicated to producing some of the finest wines that WNY has to offer, all […]

The Inn at Grace Winery is a tranquil haven situated on thirty five acres in the historic Brandywine Valley. Our original Quaker farmhouse dates to 1734 and the Hemphill family added a magnificent Georgian addition in 1815. The Inn housed the British after the battle of the Brandywine in 1777, was a safe house for the underground railroad and the farmhouse’s third floor was a civil war infirmary. The estate vineyard is just off the Manor House. The side porch is the perfect location to watch the sun sink behind the vineyard while enjoying your favorite Grace Winery vintage.

During LBJ’s presidency (1963-1969), Associated Press journalists stayed at our family’s motel in Stonewall, Texas. The photographers built a darkroom there and would toss the unneeded black-and-whites of LBJ and others into the trash. My father saved the old images, and now they line the walls of our tasting room. These rare photos and a scrapbook that Lady Bird gave my mother, along with personal correspondence from the Johnsons, help paint a rich picture of their deep connections to the local community. But, unlike a museum, you can learn all of this while sipping one of our five tasty Hill Country wines. Hahne Estates Winery is committed to celebrating the fruit of the vine by producing quality wines. Our motto is: “Quality not quantity.”

It was the dream of our founder, Dr. Herodotus “Dan” Damianos, that helped create the winemaking industry on Long Island in the early 1980’s. In 1994 he and his son, Alexander, founded Duck Walk Vineyards. The Chateau-style building in Water Mill, a true Hamptons landmark, became home to what has quickly evolved into one of the most well-known names in Long Island wine. Duck Walk Vineyards has two locations – the flagship winery is located in Southampton, New York. In 2007 we added a new location on the North Fork of Long Island. Surrounded by 30 beautiful acres of Sauvignon Blanc grape vines, Duck Walk Vineyards North is an ideal location to taste Duck Walk’s renowned wines while visiting Long Island’s famous Wine Trail. Today Duck Walk Vineyards encompasses 140 scenic acres. We produce some 5,000 cases of wine a year, and our wines have been repeatedly recognized for excellence in national competitions. From our Vidal Ice Wine made with grapes actually frozen on the vine, to our Blueberry Port crafted from wild Maine blueberries, to our unique Pinot Meunier, we strive to create wines that are distinctive and exceptional. Purple Line Urban Winery is a small family owned winery born out of our long romance and passion for good wine. My name is Kate (Owner/Tasting room manager) my husband’s name is George (Owner/Winemaker/cellar rat) and this is our story. Our story begins a few years ago when George decided that we needed to build a wine cellar in the basement of our 1865 Victorian home in the historic district of Oroville. George doesn’t do anything half way and once he gets an idea in his head he is as tenacious as a bull. So the wine cellar was built. Now we need to fill it up. Ok we can do that…we belong to wine clubs from many regions and surely that will fill the cellar. With our thoughts into filling the cellar we ventured out into the country side on one beautiful Sunday afternoon to do a little wine tasting in our region. We met the people making the wine, we talked to the people tasting the wine, we smelled the wine fermenting in the oak barrels.

After 20 years as a Vineyard Manager and CFO of M&L Vineyard Management, Linda has stepped away from managing vineyards for others and is concentrating full time on her own vineyards and wine. “I am so excited to be in my own vineyard everyday. I am doing as much of the work myself as I can. When the work is too hefty, Ruben sends a fantastic team from Rubio’s Vineyard Management to help me. Even with their help, I have the chance to look at every pruning cut and baby every vine. Taking care of four and a half acres is so different from several hundred.”

It took years to find the ideal site on which to grow Pinot Noir but after an exhaustive search, Brittan Vineyards began on a 128-acre hillside in Oregon in December 2004. The soils are a mixture of glacial deposits and volcanic material, with a predominant presence of broken basalt. At that time, there were 18 acres of existing vines. However, close to 50% has subsequently been re-planted in order to fine-tune the viticultural practices and improve the clonal and rootstock combinations. This included one of the first plantings of the Swan clonal selection of Pinot Noir in Oregon. After dropping all of the crops in 2005 to allow the vines to get better established, the first two Pinot Noirs from the mature vines on the property came from the 2006 vintage, a total of 720 cases. In the spring of 2008, an additional 3.5 acres of Pinot Noir were planted, which are now in production— the rocky soils and low water retention often means that it takes five years for a vine to get into production.

Initially, the Monsons focused on orchards and cattle. But after talking with Dr. Walter Clore, widely recognized as the visionary behind Washington’s wine industry, Arvid Monson built on the legacy of the land started by his father and began to establish vineyards in the arid hills and valleys around Richland. With that, Goose Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery was born.

Swanson Vineyards was founded in 1985 by W. Clarke and Elizabeth Swanson and is known for nationally distributing Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Alexis Cabernet Sauvignon – in addition, Swanson has long been producing limited production, tiny batch wines made from intriguing varietals. Our original wine facility was purchased in 1986, then renovated and expanded in 2000. Since then, we have been offering limited seated tastings in our Salon. The Swanson Vineyards’ Salon was modeled after a Parisian salon of the mid 1800’s, where handfuls of diverse and fascinating callers were graciously entertained with sinful libations. Inspired by old-fashioned ways of elegant living and conversation – we want each guest to feel as though they are coming to a party held in their honor.

Most wine is made with grapes, but they’re not like the ones you find in the grocery store. Wine grapes (latin name: Vitis vinifera) are smaller, sweeter, have thick skins, and contain seeds. There are over 1,300 wine grape varieties used in commercial production but only about 100 of these varieties make up 75% of the world’s vineyards.

The name De Ponte comes from the matriarch of the Baldwin family, Shirley Baldwin. De Ponte, her maiden name which is of Portuguese origin, honours her father who grew grapes and made his own wine in California’s San Joaquin Valley. De Ponte released its first Pinot Noir to critical acclaim in 2001, reflecting the dedication of the Baldwin Family and its French Winemaker Isabelle Dutartre to produce a remarkable wine. Duarte learned the art of winemaking in her home of the Burgundy region of France and each vintage reflects her uncompromising commitment to quality and tradition. In addition to its Pinot Noir, De Ponte is known for its Melon. The Melon grape is not only rare in Oregon, but also in the whole U.S. The original growers thought the vines would produce Pinot Blanc grapes, though they were mistaken. It turns out the varietal they planted was Melon de Bourgogne, which is identical to the grape used in France’s Muscadet which is produced in the Loire Valley of France. The result is a delightful white wine which has generated a loyal following for De Ponte.

The discussion surfaced on a spring evening over dinner with the Buoncristiani family and friends. When were the Buoncristiani brothers going to finally make a white wine?!! Kristin, lead by her desire for the same, inspired Jay Buoncristiani to take on this project with her, and Gemella was born. Inspiration for Our Name Derived from the Italian phrase, “L’Anima Gemella” which means soul mate, the name Gemella also signifies the small gem-like vineyard blocks where we sourced the fruit for these new offerings. Like precious gems (a clue to the pronunciation of Gemella), the fruit that made these rare handcrafted wines came from some very extraordinary vineyards. Jay Buoncristiani – Former winemaker for The Hess Collection and now a consultant winemaker in the Napa Valley, Jay has truly made his mark in the wine industry as the winemaker for Buoncristiani Family Winery. The wines he crafts with his brothers have been very well received by the press, garnering scores from 91 to 93 points from Wine Spectator. Although Jay has made many whites previously, Gemella becomes the first white wine project under his own label, co-owned with Kristin. On our farm, we’re raising our family, growing apples, pressing juice, fermenting hard ciders, and welcoming people with open arms, as has been the tradition for more than 50 years. Our experience with all things apple made our decision to become the Shenandoah Valley’s first hard cidery a natural progression. Our portfolio of ciders runs the gamut from dry, wine-like styles to fruit-forward and fun sweeter ones. You’ll typically find some seasonal varieties that are only available in our tasting room. Enjoy cider here and take some with you. Please call or review our hours on-line as they, like the orchard, change with each season.

In 1996, Judy Aron joined the proverbial “boy’s club” of Paso Robles winegrowers at a time when the region was only beginning to make a name for itself. She planted her small vineyard along the steep slopes surrounding her family’s hilltop home on the westside of Paso Robles, in an area that would become known as the Templeton Gap—so named for a providential notch in the coastal mountain range. She recognized that her land’s limestone, shale and clay soils, coupled with cooling Pacific breezes flowing through the gap, had immense potential for fine wine. In addition to planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Judy took the unusual step of planting Primitivo—the European sibling to Zinfandel, Paso Robles’ heritage variety. She was also an early proponent of dry farming at a time when heavily irrigated vineyards were the norm. Along the way, she collaborated with veteran viticulturist Richard Sauret and consulting winemaker Mikel Olsten to maximize the potential of her fruit—forming a team that remains intact today. ARONHILL WINES In 2004, Judy produced her inaugural vintage under the AronHill Vineyards label, honoring her maiden name (Hill) with a nod to the winery’s hilltop setting. The horse depicted on the label reflects her zeal for […]

In 1999 we purchased 82 acres in what would later become the Sta. Rita Hills appellation (Santa Rita Hills in California is legally Sta. Rita Hills), and named it “Ampelos,” the Greek word for vine. The name has a two-fold purpose. First, we believe that all great wines start in the vineyard. Secondly, we have close ties with Greece; we were married there and own a small bed & breakfast, called Ampelos Resort, on the island of Folegandros. We bought the land with dreams of someday watching the nightly sunset over the hills and our dogs running through the vines. Soil. Vines. Wines. This is the order in which great wine is made. Waking up from the dream is the belief that a farmer must know his fruit, and we are resolute in our passion to produce hands-on, minimally invasive wines that both whisper and shout about the terroir from which they are grown. Our vineyard is one of the first in the US to be certified Sustainability in Practice, Organic and Biodynamic. Our commitment to eco-friendly, organic farming and wine making is evident in every sip. Third generation wine maker, Tony Peterson, perfected his craft while working many years as an apprentice in his father’s winery. All the while, he dreamed of creating an experience that would incorporate the traditional art of wine making, old world charm and the very best of modern amenities. Nestled in the fertile wine growing hills of Coloma Michigan, Contessa Wine Cellars is the realization of that dream.

In 1976, after working for the New York State government in Albany for eleven years and assisting with the passage of the farm-winery bill, Jim Doolittle (Cornell University – CALS ’67) and Carol Doolittle (Good Counsel College/Pace University ’68) decided that they wanted to have their own winery. “It sounded like fun,” and so they embarked upon an adventure. In 1978, they purchased a promising site with a panoramic view of Cayuga Lake, and planted their first three acres of vines. In 1982, Frontenac Point Vineyard became New York farm-winery #44, producing only 400 cases of wine. Frontenac Point is on the west side of Cayuga Lake, and all of the grapes used to make our wines are grown in the winery’s own 18-acre vineyard, on slopes of low elevation, protected by a microclimate influenced by Ontario and Cayuga Lakes. This provides a long growing season during which the finest grape varieties ripen perfectly to produce world-class wines. The combination of estate-grown grapes, Cazenovia and Aurora silt loam soils, climate, and Frontenac Point’s winemaking techniques produces wines that are truly appellation Cayuga Lake.

Five generations of Emmolo men and women have been working the valley’s fertile farmland for nearly 100 years. Cheryl was born and raised on Rutherford’s Galleron Road, where her father, Frank Emmolo, owned one of the largest rootstock and nursery businesses in California. She grew up pulling spray rigs, working in her mother’s gardens and selling rootstock to local winemakers, a childhood that gave her an extraordinary intimacy with vineyards and vines. Ric’s Napa Valley tenure began over 55 years ago in the vineyards and cellars of Stony Hill Winery, although most people recognize him as the man who helped put Sterling Vineyards on the map. Following his time there and at Newton Vineyard, Forman tacked on several consulting projects with esteemed wineries like Villa Mt. Eden, Inglenook, Charles Shaw and Kendall Jackson, but it was when he started his own label, Forman Vineyard, in 1983 that Forman’s talent for cultivating steep, hillside slopes evidenced itself in his focused, racy Cabernets and elegant, Burgundian-style Chardonnays.

What started out as a summer sabbatical turned into an international move that forever changed our lives. Fratelli Ponzi, began as an import company when we fell in love with an Italian village called Torre di Palme and became passionate about bringing home to Oregon our high quality extra virgin olive oil. “Fratelli” means “Brothers” in Italian and Fratelli Ponzi was the name chosen for our venture in honor of our two sons who demonstrated courage beyond their years when moving to a remote area in Italy in 2012 at the ages of 9 and 15 years old. Our first Italian home, Casal Cristiana, was our inspiration as we harvested olives from trees surrounding our home for olive oil. Casal Cristiana Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil was born. Fast forward six years with lots of ups and down in between, in January 2018, we transitioned a former wine bar adjacent to our restaurant The Dundee Bistro in Dundee, Oregon USA, as our new brick and mortar for Fratelli Ponzi Fine Food & Wine, an Italian influenced wine bar and retail shop. At Fratelli Ponzi we are featuring Italian wine varietals from small producers in Oregon and Italy. Here, guests can […]

Jaramillo Vineyards grew out of one small town boy’s dream of being something bigger, flying higher, and reaching for “whatever was most difficult.” Growing up in a small New Mexico rural community, Robert Jaramillo’s first dream was to fly planes. As a young boy, he raised chickens, sold eggs, bucked hay and by age 15, became the New Mexico’s largest producer of research rabbits. Cobbling together income from these endeavors, Robert purchased flying lessons and by age 16, became a licensed pilot.

Owned by Roger and Cindy Grossmann, Faith Hope & Charity Vineyards is nestled on 312 acres between two ridges and a canyon in Terrebonne, Oregon just 14 miles from Smith Rock State Park. The tasting room and event centre are surrounded by the rich beauty of the winery’s namesake the Three Sisters Mountain range (originally named Faith Hope and Charity), along with 15 acres of vineyard, a pond, beautiful grounds, and there are even a few llamas hanging around! When the winery first opened, Faith Hope and Charity’s winemakers utilized grapes from Monkey Face Vineyards near Smith Rock in Terrebonne, while they patiently waited for their vines to mature. Taking into consideration the short growing season and often dramatic temperature drops of the high desert, the vineyard owners decided to focus on the growth of cold-hardy grapes which could withstand frost and have a shorter growing season. In September of 2015, the first block of Marquette was harvested, a hybrid grape that is said to be the cousin of Frontenac and the grandson of Pinot Noir. Because of the extensive research of cold-hardy grapes done by Cornell and the University of Minnesota, successful grape growing can be made possible in […]

We are following our lifelong passion for that perfect balance of earth, sun and soil. Dono dal Cielo was born in 2002 with our first 6,000 Zinfandel vines planted on 7 acres. Secreted away in the graceful rolling hills of Newcastle. Dono dal Cielo means “A Gift from Heaven.” We welcome your family to become part of our Dono family! Our owner Karen “Mim” describes their vineyard as “sitting at the bottom of a teacup” with a 360 degree view of the foothills. She says “it’s a phenomenon, a big growing garden”. She feels that this is such a gift, and we should treat it as a gift. She’s always thinking about how this will be a place for Newcastle to be proud of.

Futo Wines began in 2002 when Tom and Kyle Futo purchased Oakford Vineyards. Oakford, a 40 acre property with 7 acres of vineyard, had been established in the 80’s. In 2004, an adjoining 117 acre parcel was added to the property, of which 6 acres were planted to vineyard under the direction of David Abreu and winemaker Mark Aubert. Next, architect Howard Backen was called upon to design the winery. The winery was completed in time to receive the 2008 harvest. Also that year, Jason Exposto was hired to manage the day-to-day winemaking. By 2010, full winemaking responsibilities were handed to Jason. Late in 2011, the Futos completed the purchase of a property in the eastern hills of Stags Leap District. This 40 acre property included a 9 acre Cabernet vineyard planted in 1986. Today, we are proud of the point to which we have come, but remain steadfast on continuous improvement. More to come.

Located in Harlem, The Winery is a very special wine store specializing in artisanal wines that are carefully crafted with artful skills and a respect for the environment. Each and every wine was tested by our tasting panel before we display the wine on the shelf. Simply put, we sell the wines that we like to drink. Because life is too short to taste uninteresting wines. We keep the price under $25 for the most of our selection because we consider wine as a part of our day-to-day life. We also offer exquisite quality wines from major appellations for those who look for something special. In 2015 we opened a new store in Tokyo, Japan. The Winery Tokyo follows exactly the same concept as the New York store, and has already been recognized as one of Tokyo’s most distinguished wine stores. The Winery is a community based store. We love to help make the community better place to live and work. Having a humanities degree and no interest in toiling in chemistry classes, I decided to pursue apprenticeships in winemaking. In 2001, I moved to California and started my first harvest. I worked for Copain Wines and its nascent custom crush winery. The winemaking bug firmly implanted, I flew to Australia and worked for Torbreck Vintners in the Barossa Valley. I followed that harvest stint with a year-long internship at Domaine Pierre Gaillard in Côte Rôtie.

We did a little horse-trading with growers and the Emerson Brown partnership was born. We have continually collaborated on Napa Valley Wines ever since. We hope you enjoy our latest offerings.
