Brought together by chance through a mutual friend at Appalachian State, we discovered that we had written similar business plans for an urban winery in Asheville. We met several times and discovered we had the same philosophy about supporting a community of farmers, winemakers, artists, and chefs while making wine using local grapes. The rest is history in the making . . .

BOUNDARIES ARE FEW ON THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED We have always sought to create wines that are a break from conventionality. Wines born from finding inspiration in unlikely places. This departure from the norm has led us down winemaking paths that follow the same philosophies we live our life by. Maintain an adventurous spirit, seek knowledge from every experience, and be honest with yourself and your mission. What you find here are our best efforts. Aaron began in 2002, inspired by a desire to produce powerful, age-worthy wines from the rugged hillsides of westside Paso Robles. Seeking to create wines that veered from the norm, we chose to focus our efforts around a variety we adored, yet had no international benchmark — Petite Sirah. Aequorea Latin for “Of The Sea,” Aequorea began as a search for vineyards on the western side of the Santa Lucia Mountains that ventured closer to the ocean than any other sites in California. Here is where we knew we could create Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines from truly coastal terroir. VISIT US We welcome guests to visit us at our tasting room and winery, located in Paso Robles’ Tin City. We offer tastings of […]

Located in New Jersey’s Outer Coastal Plain and surrounded by the ocean and bay, the 50-acre vineyard enjoys a unique microclimate reminiscent of Bordeaux, which leads to exceptional grape harvests. Willow Creek produces fine wines from our unique varietals of vitus vininfera (grapevines) that are now at the “ripe” old age of 15 years old and producing wines of award-winning quality. The romance of the vineyard is universal and Willow Creek Winery offers vineyard vistas and gardens for strolling that will surprise and delight you. A half-mile back, beyond the architecturally stunning Villa lies the impressive hand-carved, post-and-beam Winery surrounded by a beautiful outside brick patio where you can enjoy our full grill menu, take a guided tour or attend one of our Farm Festivals.

As pioneers in East Coast viticulture, Sand Castle Winery was founded in 1974 combining European and American tradition to create world class, premium wine. We grow four European vinifera grapes on 72 acres overlooking the Delaware River. The Central Delaware Valley is recognized by the government as a designated viticultural district, one of the few places in the world where Cabernet, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir can grow with equal success. All Sand Castle wines are made exclusively from grapes grown on the property, earning the esteemed label of estate grown. The painstaking attention to quality is a large investment that limits production and yields superior wine.

Welcome to Our Winery Inside the winery, our approach is simple – do everything necessary to bring out the best in each individual batch of fruit. Our small lot production gives us the opportunity to hone in on the differences in each variety or blend, allowing us to create unique wines with distinct personalities that reflect both their vineyard source and our winemaker’s own style. The winery itself is outfitted with some of the best equipment available to the industry, which allows for a more gentle processing of the fruit and a focus on quality over quantity. We offer a range of wine styles to suit every palate, though our main concentration is on aromatically intense, food friendly wines.

In 1774 Thomas Jefferson and Philip Mazzei created Virginia’s first commercial wine company and vineyard on our estate. Often referred to as the “Birthplace of American Wine”, Jefferson Vineyards is nestled between Jefferson’s Monticello and Monroe’s Highland, only fifteen minutes from downtown Charlottesville, VA. Established nearly 40 years ago with one of the area’s most consistent award-winning track records, Jefferson Vineyards is relevant both to Charlottesville’s booming wine industry and its historic ties. Our wines range from delicate and refreshing, to elegant, full-bodied and rich. We are currently one of the highest awarded Virginia wineries for Viognier (the state grape). In 2001 we bottled one of Virginia’s first Petit Verdot varietal wine. We continue extensive experimentation with these two varietals, skin fermented white wines and a range of estate reserve wines that reflect the best of our Virginia terroir.

The Unionville Vineyards team manages and sources grapes from six vineyards, spread across three New Jersey counties. The range of soil types, macroclimates, and topography allows our winemakers to craft diverse wines which showcase the often-discussed and hard-to-define concept of terroir. Unionville Home Unionville Home is the original estate vineyard of the winery, with the first vines (a field of French-American hybrid varieties such as Chambourcin and Vidal Blanc) being planted in 1987. In 1995, following the initial success of the winery, the hill above the property was planted to classic European Vinifera varieties, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Riesling. To this day, Unionville Home produces some of our most coveted wines. Fertile, channery silt-loam soils packed with decomposing red shale, combined with a southwestern slope, lends each variety site-specific characteristics such as limey-minerality in Chardonnay, fruity acidity in Riesling, and dark, brooding, berry flavors in Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2017, we began expanding this hilltop site for the first time in almost 25 years, with almost two acres of Pinot Grigio and Gewurztraminer being planted in early May. In the coming years, we plan to continue this expansion to fully capture the beautiful terroir of the Home Vineyard. Amwell Ridge […]
