Great place with a great staff. I would highly recommend tasting their wines. The price is right and the scenic view is worth it.

Born in Zell Mosel, Germany, Winemaker Hans Peter Weis grew up in the vineyards and cellar of his family winery. It is there that he gained his passion for wine. Continually learning and working with his family to learn the techniques and traditions of the Mosel. Once he was of age he furthered his education by receiving his degree in Winemaking, Business & Agriculture. After university, he decided it was time to travel away from home and gain experience throughout different wine regions. This is how he ended up finding his way to the Finger Lakes region of New York just a few short years later. He spent 11 vintages in the Finger Lakes working as a winemaker and vineyard manager before deciding it was time to start his own winery. In the spring of 2016 he and his wife Ashlee, a native of the Finger Lakes, decided they would begin this adventure together and open up Weis Vineyards. The first harvest for Weis Vineyards was Fall of 2016. With the tasting room opening and the first vintage being released in the spring of 2017. They utilize a beautiful one-room schoolhouse to provide personalized tasting to everyone that visits.

We focus on making estate-grown, world-class Rieslings in many styles. Typically we have five Rieslings available, ranging from very dry styles to dessert wines. For lovers of red wine, we offer a Cabernet Franc that is approachable and food-friendly. Our signature wines come from estate-grown fruit from our vineyards close to the shoreline on the east side of Seneca Lake. Our wines taste the way they do, because of our location and because of our belief that good wine is made in the vineyard.

City Winery is the brainchild of Michael Dorf, founder of the iconic Knitting Factory, one of New York’s longest running music venues, who wanted to create a space in Manhattan where he could combine his shared passions for wine and music. After making his first barrel of wine in California with his brother Josh and wine maker David Tate, formerly of Ridge Winery and now at Barnett Vineyards, Michael caught the bug: “For a long time I’d been enjoying wine as a fan – drinking it, taking classes, attending wine dinners – but it was not until I actually started participating in the process of working with the grape, turning it into wine, putting it into a bottle, and watching it develop over time, that I really started to understand wine. And when I would give my friends a bottle of wine with my name on it, most would respond by saying: ‘I wanna do that too!’ It was this experience that led Michael to conceptualize and start working on the City Winery business plan in 2006.

At 1723 Vineyards we believe that great wine starts in the vineyard. The owners, Sarah and Ben Cody, are 5th generation farmers from the mid-west, with a passion for great wine and working with their hands. In 2014 they purchased 36 acres of the historic McMaster farm in Landenberg, PA. The farm was saved from high density development and has been placed in the Chester County Agricultural Land Preservation program.
